Pepperoni pizza dinner for three in Gwangju Suwan: Bueokgan Suwan

In short

Bueokgan Suwan Branch is an Italian and brunch restaurant in front of Sumun 1 Park in the Suwan district of Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju. Three friends came for dinner and ordered abalone cream risotto (20,000 won), vongole pasta (20,000 won) and pepperoni pizza (17,000 won), which arrived in that order 8, 11 and 13 minutes apart. Three dishes were exactly the right amount for three people, and the pepperoni pizza with its flavourful dough was the one to order again.

The interior is done up in white and pink tones overall 💖 Clean but with subtle accent touches — the kind of atmosphere women in particular would love.

Three dishes for three people: serving order and portion sizes

What we ordered at Bueokgan Suwan Branch was abalone cream risotto for ₩20,000, vongole pasta for ₩20,000, and pepperoni pizza for ₩17,000. The dishes came out one at a time, roughly 8, 11, and 13 minutes apart after ordering. None of them took too long, and overall the pacing was pretty quick. The three of us shared the three dishes and the portion size was just right 👍

Abalone cream risotto, 20,000 won

A plate of abalone cream risotto

First up, the abalone cream risotto. Visually, it looked a lot like abalone intestine porridge.

On top were crisply pan-seared enoki mushrooms as garnish — the crunchy mushrooms paired really well with the soft risotto!

Finely chopped abalone and mushroom visible inside the risotto

Inside the risotto were finely chopped abalone and mushrooms. With their similar textures, they blended together nicely, and you could really taste that savory cream flavor 😋

Vongole pasta, 20,000 won

A plate of vongole pasta

Next, the vongole pasta. A clean-tasting vongole, faithful to the basics overall!

Oil-based vongole pasta with clams
Clean oil-sauced vongole pasta

Rather than punching up the flavor with strong seasoning, this was a dish where you could comfortably enjoy the clean taste of clams and oil base 👍

Vongole pasta noodles twirled on a fork

Above all, the noodles had great bite ‼️ Sauce matters for pasta, but how the noodles are cooked really changes your satisfaction — these held their shape and bite without going soft, and the texture was on point 😋 If you like a clean-tasting pasta, I'd recommend the vongole here.

Pepperoni pizza, 17,000 won

Pepperoni pizza cut into six slices

And personally, the dish I'd recommend most is the pepperoni pizza 🍕 It came cut into six slices, piled generously with pepperoni.

There was plenty of cheese too — pick up a slice and the cheese stretched forever 🧀 The salty pepperoni and rich cheese paired beautifully, and with the hot sauce they served alongside it, you could enjoy a whole different flavor 🤤

Cross-section of the pepperoni pizza dough

Above all, the dough was delicious 😋❤️ A pizza needs good dough as much as good toppings to keep you coming back for more without getting tired of it — and this one's dough was great, which made it easy for the three of us to share.

Verdict: Bueokgan Suwan Branch for brunch or dinner in Suwan

  • ✔️ A Gwangju Italian restaurant with a great atmosphere

  • ✔️ Satisfying for both brunch and dinner

If you're looking for a place for a date or a meal with friends in the Suwan district, I'd recommend giving 📍Bueokgan Suwan a visit 😊
