Snack set menu takeout near Sinnonhyeon Station: Deokjane Bangatgan
In short
Deokjane Bangatgan is a bunsik (Korean snack) restaurant serving rice tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), a 5-minute walk from Exit 7 of Sinnonhyeon Station in Seocho, Seoul. At 6pm the writer took away Set Menu A, which comes with tteokbokki, fish cakes, gimbap (seaweed rice rolls), fried snacks and a drink, and the highlights were the whole garaetteok rice cakes and the assorted fry you get to pick through. A good pick for a solo meal on a day when you want a little of everything.

In an era ruled by wheat-flour tteokbokki, I suddenly craved rice tteokbokki, so I headed to Deokjane Bangatgan, a well-known tteokbokki spot near Sinnonhyeon Station~~
How to walk to Deokjane Bangatgan from Sinnonhyeon Station
It's a 5-minute walk from Exit 7 of Sinnonhyeon Station! Being so close to the subway station made it really easy to get to.
What the restaurant looks like from outside

It's on the first floor of the building, so it was easy to find!

There's a menu board set up outside so you can check it before going in — it was nice to have a quick look before ordering, haha.
Inside at 6pm, and the self-serve bar
I visited around 6pm and the place was packed. Couldn't get an interior shot, sorry! But it looked like a spacious place with several tables, good for families or solo diners alike. You can watch the cooking happen right in front of you, which made me feel reassured about the food haha.
There's also a self-serve bar, so you can grab jjolmyeon sauce or anything extra you need!

If you eat in, they top the tteokbokki with potato salad, but they said takeout orders don't get it because of spoilage concerns. Just a heads-up!! (I ordered takeout, and I bet it would've been even more delicious with the potato salad on top ㅠㅠ)
Menu lineup and prices

Since tteokbokki is the main dish, most people were ordering tteokbokki-centered meals, and I heard the rice cakes here are freshly made every day, so you can trust the quality even more haha. Besides tteokbokki, there's a wide range of menu items too — sundae (blood sausage), odeng (fish cake skewers), mul-tteok (rice cakes in broth), fried snacks, gimbap — so there's plenty to enjoy.
What comes in Set Menu A?

I ordered Set Menu A, which came with tteokbokki, fish cake, gimbap (seaweed rice roll), fried snacks, and a drink!! When just tteokbokki alone feels like not quite enough, you can order fried snacks, fish cake, and gimbap together, so you get to enjoy several different things at once, which made it even more satisfying. 🤍

Rice tteokbokki with whole garaetteok rice cakes
The sauce was really soaked into the rice cakes, so the first bite had that proper spicy-sweet punch!! The rice cakes are made from whole garaetteok (long cylindrical rice cakes), so they had a nice chewy texture, and the sauce was spicy-sweet without being too heavy, so I kept reaching for more!! It also tasted like the old-school street cart tteokbokki I used to eat, so it brought back memories.

The tteokbokki had 4 rice cakes and 2 fish cakes in it — I thought it might be a small portion, but by the time I finished I was completely full, haha.

The fish cakes
You can't have a proper snack meal without fish cake! Eating it with the warm broth paired really well with the spicy tteokbokki!! There was a generous amount, so it filled me up nicely!! No fishy taste, just deep flavor, and honestly I liked it even more once the fish cake had softened a bit from sitting during the takeout trip!

The assorted fried snacks
I also ordered the fried snacks, which you can't skip alongside tteokbokki!! There was sweet potato tempura, gimmari (fried seaweed roll), fried squid, mini fried dumplings, and fried fish cake all together — so it was fun picking through them, haha. The dumplings and sweet potato pieces both came in twos, so there's no fighting over them if you're sharing~

The gimbap
And finally, the gimbap! Dipping it lightly in the tteokbokki sauce is still the best combo👍 Gimbap from a snack restaurant really needs no introduction.
Final verdict on Set Menu A takeout
Spicy tteokbokki, crispy fried snacks, warm fish cake, and filling gimbap — after eating all this, I felt like I'd had a proper snack meal! Recommended for days when you want something simple but also want to eat a bit of everything!!
