Pocheon night café for a dog birthday with sand dog run: Geurine Oasis

In short

Geurine Oasis is a large pet-friendly bakery café facing Gomo Reservoir in Soheul-eup, Pocheon, Gyeonggi. To celebrate a dog's birthday, the writer visited at night, took a private seat in the annex, used the sand-floored outdoor dog run, and ordered Seoul Milk pet milk at 5,000 won, a decaf vanilla bean latte at 9,000 won, and New York cheesecake at 9,500 won. Open until 22:00, Geurine Oasis works well as a late-night lake-view stop on a drive out of Seoul.

I was looking for a good drive-out-of-Seoul spot and ended up at a café in Gomo-ri, Pocheon, Gyeonggi. It's right near Gwangneung Arboretum — Geurine Oasis (그리네 오아시스), a large pet-friendly bakery café near Gomo Reservoir where you can take in a great view and just relax.

Having actually been there, I totally get why everyone recommends it as a quirky date spot in Pocheon.

Exterior of Geurine Oasis café in Pocheon, in front of Gomo Reservoir

Geurine Oasis sits right in front of Gomo Reservoir, so it's easy to find, and there are lots of good restaurants nearby — a great course for a meal followed by a casual drink.

Main building and annex viewed from the parking lot

Facing the building with your back to the parking lot, the main building is on the left and the annex is on the right.

There's also an outdoor seating area, a fire-gazing zone, and a dog run, so the space is divided into several different areas — each visit feels a little different.

What the main building's order counter and bakery shelves look like

First, the main building! It felt cozy and comfortable, the kind of place you could relax in for a while.

This is the counter where you order the bakery items and drinks.

There's a full lineup to pick from — salt bread, scones, bagels, croissants, chocolate pretzels, and more.

You order at a kiosk, and there's even a separate kiosk just for dogs. Along with the classic Americano, there are smooth, nutty signature lattes, refreshing ades, and a range of teas that make it easy for anyone to find something they like.

The private annex seats where dogs can sit with you

Next is the annex. It has two separate entrances.

It has a different, more independent feel from the main building — good for when you want a cozier, more private time.

Inside there's also bar seating facing the window where you can sit side by side. I noticed a fire-gazing machine here too, so it seems to be an indoor fire-gazing zone. On a chilly day, or when outdoor seating feels like too much, you can still enjoy that emotional flame-watching moment in a warm, cozy indoor spot.

Further past the bar seats, there's a somewhat partitioned space. Since we came with our dog, we sat in this private area.

Since it's a place made for whole families to visit together, there's a corner with baby chairs (high chairs) set up thoughtfully for guests visiting with infants. Families out for an outing with young kids can rest easy here too.

Annex terrace and the fire-gazing zone facing Gomo Reservoir

In front of the annex there's a terrace with open-air seating where you can breathe in the fresh air and relax.

Soft ambient lighting comes on around the terrace, giving it a romantic, warm feeling — almost like an outdoor picnic. A really good spot for a cozy date.

Walk a little further past the annex terrace and you'll find the fire-gazing zone, set up in an open outdoor area.

Right in front is the view of Gomo Reservoir, paired with the warm flames of the fire-gazing zone — genuinely healing.

During the day you get a sparkling lake as your backdrop, and at night you can watch flames dance while soft city lights shimmer across the water — a perfect kind of unwinding.

To do the fire-gazing, order a fire-gazing zone ticket (₩9,900) at the kiosk. It's available for families or couples, so it's a good spot for a special date or a trip with kids. Fire-gazing outdoors in any season — pretty romantic, right?

Inside the sand-floored outdoor dog run at Geurine Oasis

Since Geurine Oasis is pet-friendly, you get to spend relaxed time with your beloved dog — behind the main building on the right is the dog run.

There's a wide open outdoor exercise yard, so once you're out of the indoor crate or carrier, you can take a walk together or just hang out in the yard.

True to the name Geurine Oasis, the floor is covered in fine sand, giving it a distinctive vibe that's hard to find in the middle of the city.

One side of the dog run also has chairs and parasols thoughtfully set up so owners can sit and rest comfortably.

It seems like ordering a treat for your pet is basically required when you bring one along.

Seoul Milk Pet Milk, low-fat (₩5,000). We ordered one for Danchu to drink after running around.

And now, the people drinks! haha

Order a drink at Geurine Oasis and it comes in a cute reusable cup!

Instead of a regular disposable takeout cup, it's a pretty thick, sturdy cup — sturdy enough to use in the café, and once you're done, you can wash it and reuse it like a tumbler at home or in the car.

Vanilla bean latte, decaf (₩9,000) and Hong Kong milk tea (₩8,000). I really liked being able to pick decaf beans this late in the evening.

Strawberry syrup latte (₩8,000) and dark chocolate latte (₩7,500). Both seem like they'd be popular with kids too — the strawberry syrup latte uses house-made strawberry syrup, and the chocolate milk uses top-grade chocolate from France, the Netherlands, and Belgium, the traditional chocolate-making countries.

Salt bread, cocoa pretzel and New York cheesecake at Geurine Oasis

Signature salt bread (₩4,800) and cocoa pretzel (₩6,000). The salt bread is made with New Zealand Anchor butter, and the cocoa pretzel is crispy outside, soft inside, packed with chocolate filling.

New York cheesecake (₩9,500). I didn't realize it that day, but apparently they'll give you a free mini candle if you ask. We came to celebrate our dog's birthday and missed out on the candle — kind of a bummer, haha.

Still, the cheesecake tasted great. Dense and rich, exactly what you want.

Drinks and bakery desserts arranged on the table

Everything is baked in-house, so it's a great spot for a bakery pilgrimage, and it all pairs really well with the coffee and tea. With its spacious outdoor area, it also works great as a group meeting spot — a big Pocheon café where you can relax over good desserts, coffee, and conversation. I think I'll be back on future drives out of Seoul.

Geurine Oasis — a big, Instagram-famous, lake-view café where you can escape the bustle of the city and relax in nature!
