Premium assorted sashimi, medium size, from Ttangkkeut Maeul set out at home
Takeout assorted sashimi opened up at home

After the sweltering summer finally gave way to cool autumn air, I got the sudden urge to go out for a walk. I wanted some fresh air and some good sashimi, so I headed to Noryangjin Fisheries Market. I'd only ever been there for group dinners before — this was my first time getting takeout — and honestly, it exceeded my expectations. So let me introduce you to the place I visited: Ttangkkeut Maeul, a well-known sashimi spot at Noryangjin Fisheries Market.

Finding Ttangkkeut Maeul at Noryangjin Fisheries Market

Noryangjin Fisheries Market is easier to find than you'd expect once you come out of Exit 9 at Noryangjin Station. Right in front of the exit you'll see a futsal court, and just behind it the fish market building comes into view, so even first-timers won't have trouble finding it.

Seafood stalls inside Noryangjin Fisheries Market

Once you step inside the market, you're surrounded by every kind of seafood imaginable, which makes just browsing around fun in itself. Live fish, crustaceans, shellfish — they have it all.

Ttangkkeut Maeul, the place I visited, sits right where you can see it as soon as you walk in through Gate 1 (South), so it was easy to find.

The tanks alone won me over

When picking a good sashimi restaurant at Noryangjin Fisheries Market, the thing I care about most is the condition of the fish tanks.

A well-maintained, clean fish tank at the restaurant

Ttangkkeut Maeul's tanks were kept spotlessly clean, which gave me a good first impression right away.

How was reserved pickup of the premium assorted sashimi, medium size?

Sashimi takeout bag prepared right on time for pickup

I made a reservation ahead of time, and the takeout was all packed and ready right at my pickup time, so I didn't have to wait at all — I just grabbed it and left. Not having to stand around was really convenient. The regular assorted sashimi looked fine too, but I wanted to try a wider variety of fish, so I ordered the premium assorted sashimi in the medium size. There are 4 size options total, and the staff recommended the medium as right for 3–4 people.

The moment I picked it up I thought, "Was sashimi always this heavy?" — it was surprisingly hefty. That's how generous the portion was.

Packaging and what came with it

The packaging was satisfying too. They included an ice pack and sealed everything tightly with plastic wrap, so there was no worry about anything leaking or shifting on the way home. The basic sides were solid as well — chojang (vinegared chili paste), soy sauce, ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste), wasabi, and even sushi sauce were all included, so you could turn any leftover sashimi into sushi at home.

Radish sprouts, rakkyo (pickled shallots), and pickled ginger were all included too, so all I needed to add was some wrapping lettuce and I could set the table right away.

8 kinds of fish, fresh with no fishy smell

The assorted sashimi platter with the lid opened

The moment I opened the lid, the visual alone was satisfying. Flounder, sea bream, rockfish, mullet, sea bass, salmon, yellowtail and tuna were all packed in evenly, so I got to enjoy a wide range of flavors.

Above all, there was absolutely no fishy smell — it was genuinely fresh. The moment I tasted it, I understood exactly why this place is called a top sashimi spot at Noryangjin Fisheries Market.

An assorted platter that paid attention even to slice thickness

Sashimi sliced to different thicknesses depending on the fish

What impressed me most was that each fish was sliced to a different thickness. Chewy fish like flounder were cut thick to bring out the texture, while the other fish were each prepared to suit their own characteristics, which made every bite interesting.

A thick-cut piece of flounder sashimi

Overall, the slices were thick enough that a single piece filled my mouth. The savory, chewy texture held up well, and it paired really nicely with drinks.

Assorted sashimi enjoyed at home with drinks

Eating at a sashimi restaurant in person can get pricey, but getting it packed to enjoy comfortably at home made the value feel much better. Being able to eat at my own pace at home was a big plus too — without being rushed, and with my favorite side dishes and drinks alongside it, I enjoyed it even more.

Who this is good for

This was my first time getting sashimi takeout in Noryangjin, and it exceeded my expectations. The freshness, packaging, and composition were all great, so I think I'll be ordering takeout again next time. It would work well for a family dinner, a parent's birthday, or hosting guests at home. It's a solid choice for a group gathering or a home party too. If you're craving good sashimi along with a fall outing, I'd recommend picking up an assorted platter from Ttangkkeut Maeul, a well-known sashimi spot at Noryangjin Fisheries Market.
