Seongsu brunch restaurant with katsu sando and 3rd-floor seats
In short
Seongsu Darak is a Western-style brunch and pasta restaurant on the 2nd and 3rd floors of a building on Ttukseom-ro 9-gil in Seongsu, Seoul, a 7-minute walk from Exit 3 of Seongsu Station. On this return visit for the katsu sando (12,000 won), the writer also ordered omelet rice (17,000 won) and beef brisket perilla oil pasta (19,000 won), and moved up to the third floor because only 4-person tables were left on the second. The thicker katsu sando and the omelet rice that staff cut open at the table are the combination to order at Seongsu Darak.

Today I visited a hot spot restaurant in Seongsu — as Seongsu-dong gets more and more crowded, the good restaurants there keep getting more varied too. This time I went to Seongsu Darak (성수다락), a Seongsu brunch spot that's currently famous for its waiting line.

Finding the entrance and what the 2nd and 3rd floor seats are like
The entrance to Seongsu Darak trips me up every single time. I can never find the actual door.

I was about to try opening that wooden door when luckily a staff member came out through a different one, haha. I could tell the concept was very intentional. I keep wondering why I always fall for it, but I think that's part of the fun when you're out exploring.

Seongsu Darak is on the 2nd floor, up a staircase. The 2nd floor had seats, but only 4-person tables were left, so we headed up to the 3rd floor. The atmosphere on the 2nd and 3rd floors is the same, so it didn't seem to matter either way.
Seongsu Darak menu and prices

Seongsu Darak's signature menu includes omelet rice ₩17,000, rosé pasta ₩19,000, pork neck steak ₩24,000, spicy crab risotto ₩19,000, katsu sando ₩12,000, corn gnocchi ₩19,000, and pineapple ade ₩6,900. Three dishes ordered: omelet rice, katsu sando and perilla oil pasta

This visit's order at Seongsu Darak was omelet rice ₩17,000, katsu sando ₩12,000, and beef brisket perilla oil pasta ₩19,000. I ordered these three dishes — since I already loved everything so much last time, this time I just swapped the pasta for a different kind.
Beef brisket perilla oil pasta, 19,000 won

Beef brisket perilla oil pasta, ₩19,000. Once you break the yolk, the flavor turns even more mellow. With perilla leaf, cheese, and beef brisket, it all blended nicely with the oil and was easy to eat. I think this is a great pasta to order when you've had too much cream pasta or tomato pasta lately.

Eating the beef brisket together with the omelet rice made for a new combination I really enjoyed, so that's how I ate it. Delicious flavor plus delicious flavor mixed together into something even richer — it worked well.
Katsu sando, 12,000 won: why the writer came back

Katsu sando, ₩12,000. This is the dish that got me hooked in the first place, so I came back to Seongsu Darak for it again. This time the katsu was even thicker and softer, so the meat tasted even better than before. The crunch of the pork cutlet meeting the soft bread makes this katsu sando one of Seongsu Darak's signature dishes that I highly recommend.
Omelet rice, 17,000 won, cut open at the table by staff

Omelet rice, ₩17,000. A staff member cuts the omelet rice with a knife right at the table, splitting it neatly in half — it almost feels like being in Japan. They asked first whether we wanted to take a photo, and if you say you'd like to film a video or take pictures, the staff waits patiently, which was nice. It's great for an Instagram-worthy shot too, and the service makes it a perfect Seongsu date spot.

Is Seongsu Darak good for solo diners, wedding-invitation get-togethers or a meal with parents?
Seongsu Darak seems to be quietly famous as a solo-dining spot in Seongsu too, since there were quite a few people eating alone — great for solo diners. It's also a popular spot for wedding invitation gatherings, so the 4-person tables were mostly filled with groups. In particular, the atmosphere felt like a place many people bring their parents to. Being both a great omelet rice spot and a solid Western-style restaurant in Seongsu, it felt like a place that's easy for all kinds of people to enjoy.
