I had a popup to check out near Seongsu Station, and while deciding what to eat, I was suddenly craving Western food. So naturally my feet carried me to Seongsu Darak. It was just a casual dinner with a friend, but as always, Seongsu Darak didn't disappoint, so here's my review.
The vibe — an entrance you open like a picture frame, not a door

There's something I have to mention first: the Darak series always starts differently right from the entrance. Once again, I ended up being the one person who tried to push open the heavy door and failed ^_ㅜ

At Seongsu Darak, you have to open something that looks like a picture frame instead of a door. At the Gangnam Euljidarak branch, you open what looks like an elevator to get in — does anyone know if each location has a different entrance concept? (Suddenly very curious.) This part was pretty fun too hahaha.
After you pick your menu, ringing a bell is another Darak-series signature, and this small detail is a little laugh moment every time I visit.
Weekday, 6:30pm — any waiting?
I arrived around 6:30 on a weekday, and thankfully there was no wait. But the restaurant was pretty full inside, and there were more solo diners than I expected!

The interior style is the kind women especially tend to love. Clean, cozy lighting and every little decor piece clearly thought through — it felt like a great spot for a date. A space that would work whether you're with a friend or a partner.
What we ordered — spicy crab risotto and corn gnocchi

Open the menu and the signature dishes immediately grab your attention — this time I was craving something spicy, so I went with the spicy crab risotto ෆ

✔ Today's order
- Spicy crab risotto (₩19,000)
- Corn gnocchi (₩19,000)
- Zero Coke (₩3,500) x2
Honestly I already know the other signature dishes are all good too, so I hesitated for a moment, but that day the spicy option won out. In the end, it was really the right call~!~!

It was spicier than I expected, which surprised me, but there was so much crab packed in that the umami really came through in the spice. It had a clean kind of heat that wasn't overwhelming, so my spoon kept going back for more.

I actually ordered the corn gnocchi again because it was so good on my last visit. The chewy gnocchi texture with a subtle, nutty corn aroma spreading through it was the kind of taste I kept thinking about. It didn't disappoint this time either, and paired with the spicy risotto, the combination was truly fantastic. Eating something spicy, then soothing your mouth with the savory gnocchi, then repeating — it was the kind of flow you want to keep going.
I think the real strength of the Darak locations(?) is that nothing on the menu misses. So naturally I found myself already convinced I'd be back ⑅♡

Would I go back? Final thoughts
Given how satisfying it was even trying dishes outside the signature lineup, this really does seem like a place where you can't go wrong no matter what you order. If you want a nice-vibe date spot in Seongsu, or you're craving spicy Western food, I'd definitely recommend Seongsu Darak. Next time I'm out at a popup, I'll probably end up stopping by again naturally :)
