Samsong Station BBQ private room and spicy ramyeon: Neopttakjip

In short

Neopttakjip Samsong Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant in Samsong-dong, Deogyang-gu, Goyang, about a 5-minute walk from Exit 3 of Samsong Station. The order was a mixed grill of pork neck, sasitsal, kkodeulsal, hayansal and samgyeopsal, plus Neopttak spicy ramyeon claimed through the Naver receipt review event. With a separate room at the back and a self-serve side dish bar in the middle of the floor, Neopttakjip Samsong Branch works well for a Samsong work dinner or a large group.

I had a reason to eat meat in Samsong, so I visited Neopttakjip Samsong Branch. It's about a 5-minute walk from Exit 3 of Samsong Station, so it was really close to the station — almost right next to it, honestly, making it easy to get to by public transit.

Inside Neopttakjip Samsong Branch: celebrity autographs and pork aging in the fridge

The first thing that caught my eye walking in was the celebrity autographs scattered around the place. There were more than I expected, which was kind of fun, and on one side I could see meat being aged.

The inside was bigger than I expected. Even with a retro-styled interior, it didn't feel messy or cramped — everything was neat and well kept overall.

At a BBQ restaurant, the food matters most, but the tables, tools and overall cleanliness do bug me a little too — and here everything felt well managed.

There's also a separate room set up inside Neopttakjip Samsong Branch. It's roomy enough for a group, so it looked like a good spot for friends, a Samsong work dinner, or any group gathering.

In the middle there's also a self-serve bar, so I could grab as many extra side dishes as I needed myself. Having a self-serve bar like this is nice because you don't have to keep flagging down staff.

What side dishes come with the meat?

As soon as we sat down, the side dishes were set out before we even ordered. There was more variety than I expected — mac and cheese, aged kimchi (mukeunji), spicy chili paejeolli (sliced chili salad), garlic scape muchim (seasoned garlic scapes), and more.

Having this many side dishes to mix and match is way more fun than just eating meat on repeat. What we ordered that day was the mixed grill with pork neck, sasitsal, kkodeulsal, hayansal and samgyeopsal (pork belly) all together.

The five cuts in the mixed grill: how does each one taste?

I usually eat familiar cuts like samgyeopsal or pork neck, but I liked getting to try cuts like sasitsal, kkodeulsal and hayansal all at once, since you don't easily find them at other BBQ places. The texture was a bit different from cut to cut, which made trying them one by one fun.

They were also running a Naver receipt review event, and we chose the Neopttak spicy ramyeon as our review gift. 😋

Turns out this place might actually be a ramyeon hotspot lol. It seemed to be in the spicy Jin Ramen family, and the broth was pretty rich and salty, so it went really well with the meat. It was tastier than I expected, so I dug in hard lol.

How to eat the pork: salt, ground perilla seed and sesame oil

There was a note in the restaurant on how to eat the meat for the best taste, so I followed it. I set out salt, ground perilla seed, and sesame oil to dip the meat in, and it worked better than I expected.

Adding in the different side dishes — aged kimchi, chili paejeolli, garlic scape muchim — on top of that meant even the same meat could taste like a different combination every time.

Personally, the familiar samgyeopsal was great, but what I liked most was getting to try cuts I don't usually get to eat elsewhere, all in one sitting.

Which occasions suit this Samsong BBQ restaurant?

Overall the place was clean and the owner was friendly, so I could eat comfortably. I especially liked that the hygiene and upkeep — things that always bug me at BBQ restaurants — were both handled well here.

With the room and the generally spacious layout, it looked good for visiting with a group too. It's also close to Samsong Station, so it's worth keeping in mind if you're looking for a spot for a Samsong work dinner.

Personally, I think it'd be even more fun to visit on a day when you want to try a little of several specialty cuts instead of just the usual samgyeopsal. If you're looking for somewhere to eat meat in Samsong, Neopttakjip Samsong Branch was worth the visit at least once. Especially if you're after Samsong samgyeopsal but also want to try a variety of other cuts alongside it, this seems like a solid choice.

The restroom was inside too, which was really convenient haha.

🗒️ Final verdict

Easy to get to from Samsong Station and pretty clean overall — I think I'll think of this place next time I'm craving meat in Samsong. If you're looking for a good Samsong samgyeopsal spot, this one's worth checking out!
