In short

Panna is an Italian restaurant near Jeonpo Station in Busanjin, Busan, serving pasta and gnocchi. After a one-hour Saturday lunch wait, I loved the rich Toowoomba pasta sauce and the varied textures of the basil gnocchi. Panna is a great casual pasta stop near Jeonpo Station.

Panna Seomyeon Main Branch location and operating information

I went to Busan because my mom had a hospital appointment, and I heard there was a great restaurant near Jeonpo Station with tasty food, a lovely atmosphere, and good value, so we visited Panna. It is extremely close to Jeonpo Station, so it was very easy to find.

Saturday lunch wait and getting seated

The moment we went up the stairs, there were people sitting out front waiting. You do not just sit and wait, though—there is a Catchtable machine in front of the restaurant, so you enter your number there and get a KakaoTalk notification when it is your turn. Once your turn is getting close, I recommend sitting in front of the restaurant! A staff member also comes out and calls the numbers for entry.

We went at Saturday lunchtime and got in after waiting about an hour. The space was not huge, but the cozy little atmosphere was so cute. It was decorated overall in orange tones, and it felt less like a super-serious pasta hotspot and more like Panna, a place that is easy to drop into casually.

The kitchen is open, too, so it was fun to watch while we waited. Every now and then, flames would suddenly shoot up—so cool.

The table was already set with cutlery and dishes, along with a menu and an order sheet. You write down what you want on the paper and hand it over. So many places use tablets these days, and this cute analog approach felt like the complete opposite.

After ordering, they asked whether we wanted pickles, and we chose the carrot ones. Panna is seriously a pickle gem. They are tangy and spicy, and one bite feels so refreshing that you can enjoy the pasta even more.

There were also hair ties hanging beside the tissue holder, plus a spot where you could charge your phone, so I thought they were very considerate of customers. The staff were kind, too!

Grapefruit ade and Toowoomba pasta

The grapefruit ade came out first. I was hoping for something fresh and clean-tasting, and it was perfect because it was not overly sweet. There was just the right amount of grapefruit syrup, so the grapefruit flavor really came through.

Next was the Toowoomba pasta. My mom had tried it in Daejeon and said it was so delicious, so we ordered it at Panna, too. The smooth cream had a subtle kick, and the rich, thick texture was exactly right. My mom mixed it all up, and you can see how thick and creamy it is even then, right? Toowoomba pasta is no good when the sauce is thin, but this was perfectly rich. Just looking at it made me drool again.

I twirled up a big forkful of noodles and put it all in my mouth. It was mild enough even for someone who cannot handle spicy food, and I immediately understood why it is such a popular menu item.

There were big shrimp in it, too, so the texture was really, really good. I also loved that there were mushrooms throughout, giving you a variety of textures to enjoy.

The chewy texture of basil gnocchi

Next was the basil gnocchi. First of all, the presentation is no joke, right? It had basil cream sauce, thick-cut bacon, and tons of cheese sprinkled over the top, so it looked delicious before I had even tried it.

With one spoonful, I got gnocchi, mushrooms, jalapeños, cheese, and more all at once. Putting it in my mouth, the mix of flavors was so, so delicious. I especially loved the pleasantly chewy gnocchi; the pieces were on the small side, so having several at once made them even better. You can probably tell from a quick look at the bowl, but it is even tastier with plenty of sauce. So we scraped the bowl clean like we were trying to make a hole in it before leaving. They say it is directly run by a hotel-trained chef with 14 years of experience, and I could not help thinking this might be the only place where you can get this flavor at this price. If you are looking for a place to eat near Jeonpo Station, I really hope you visit Panna!
