Busanjin teppanyaki bar with live grill performance: Teppan King

In short

Teppan King is a Japanese-style teppanyaki bar near Seomyeon Station Exit 4 in Busanjin, Busan. After reserving counter seats, I watched the nonstop grill performance over horumon-yaki and special yakisoba with shrimp, squid, and pork for ₩15,000. Verdict: Teppan King suits a date or casual drinks.

Teppan King, an izakaya near Seomyeon Station, was sooo close to Exit 4. Its Korean name is written small, but the big Chinese character for “king” makes it surprisingly easy to find, haha.

The interior felt like stepping into a Japanese izakaya. They really brought the concept to life. We had reserved in advance, so we were shown to seats where we could watch the teppanyaki.

Ordering horumon-yaki and special yakisoba

Looking over the menu, there was a wide range of teppanyaki dishes, and the prices were affordable too. I was so happy to spot horumon-yaki (Japanese grilled offal), which I make sure to eat every time I go to Fukuoka.

My companion was craving yakisoba (Japanese stir-fried noodles), so we ordered the special yakisoba too. A whole plate with shrimp, squid, and pork for only ₩15,000! This Seomyeon Station bar really delivers on value as well.

There were lots of toppings and alcoholic drinks too, so it would be nice to choose according to your taste.

A nonstop performance from counter seats

We watched the teppanyaki right in front of us. Almost all the other tables ordered teppanyaki that day too, so the performance never stopped, haha.

Maybe because the owner has specialized in teppanyaki for such a long time, his hands moved incredibly fast.

Steak and seafood kept going onto the grill without a break, haha. I heard they had only recently moved here by Seomyeon Station Exit 4 after operating in Jeonpo, but regulars seem to keep coming even to the new location.

With the Japanese-style feel plus the teppanyaki performance, I think I could recommend it as a Seomyeon date spot too.

There was a wide selection of drinks as well, so it would not be a bad place for a blind date either?! If you are looking for an izakaya with a taste of Japan, Teppan King near Seomyeon Station seems like a good choice.

Japanese-style izakaya atmosphere

Odor-free horumon-yaki and nicely textured yakisoba

The horumon-yaki was delicious with none of that unpleasant odor. The chewy pieces in particular were perfect with drinks.

It had been a while since I last had yakisoba, and it was so good ㅜㅜ Maybe because a teppanyaki master made it, every texture was still alive. It was not overly salty either, which I liked even more.

Table setting with horumon-yaki and yakisoba

A visual straight out of a comic book, haha. They felt like dishes worth having whether you come for first or second-round drinks.

There were also plenty of beef options and seafood teppanyaki dishes, including scallops and shellfish, so this is a Seomyeon Station bar I would visit again.

If you are looking for a Seomyeon izakaya where you can watch a performance and casually enjoy a few things, give Teppan King a visit, haha.
