Wandering around Jeonju Hanok Village, there's so much street food it's hard to choose. After looking around, we picked up Mannyeon Dakgangjeong to keep dinner simple!!!!
Where is Mannyeon Dakgangjeong Hanok Village Direct Store, and when is it open?
Mannyeon Dakgangjeong Hanok Village Direct Store is on the first floor of a hanok building at 27 Taejo-ro, Jeonju Hanok Village. The exterior has presence, haha. It's in a hanok building that fits right into the village atmosphere, so the yellow Mannyeon Dakgangjeong sign catches your eye even from a distance!!

Since it's inside the hanok village, it's easy to spot while walking around, and it's also great for takeout to eat at your accommodation or home, so I want to introduce it for anyone looking for good food in Jeonju Hanok Village.
Mannyeon Dakgangjeong menu: flavors and how half-and-half orders work
Mannyeon Dakgangjeong has four flavors — mild, spicy, soy, and fried — and you can also order two flavors half-and-half. You can order right in front of the shop, and the menu board is posted large, so it was easy to choose.
Dakgangjeong (Korean fried chicken bites) comes in mild, spicy, soy, and fried, and you can order a single flavor, but if you want to try two flavors like I did, half-and-half is possible!!!
The side menu is solid too, haha. Sotteoksotteok, sweet potato cheese sticks, jjondeugi fritter, and even cheese balls!!!!!!
They said they'd give a gift if you leave a receipt review!! And right next to it, draft beer... ahh...
The owner gave our baby a little chicken doll as a gift, haha. Thank you, haha.
Mannyeon Dakgangjeong says they use fresh real fruit sauce. It was written on the takeout box and also posted prominently in the shop — they said it tastes good and doesn't smell even after it cools.
Soy and spicy half-and-half, large, 30,000 won to take away
After some deliberation, we chose soy + spicy (large) half-and-half. The price was 30,000 won. Next time we'll try the one with shrimp mixed in, haha.
Our steps got excited just thinking about eating it soon, haha.
We didn't eat it right after getting it packed — we brought it home instead — but it was still delicious!!! I admit it's even better once it cools down...
Soy dakgangjeong over rice: what a 31-month-old ate
Mannyeon's soy flavor was mild enough for our 31-month-old to eat as chibap (mixed with rice). The moment we opened the box, the portion was generous, generous!! So glossy and shiny, doesn't it look delicious? Ugh.
The soy dakgangjeong was labeled as strongly recommended for those who are sensitive even to a very mild level of spiciness, so I chose it to feed our baby! Our 31-month-old really ate it well, haha. We didn't have anything else at home, so we gave it as chibap, and since it wasn't spicy, she ate it neatly. So if you're looking for something to eat with your kid in Jeonju Hanok Village, the soy flavor should be a safe order!!!!
Spicy dakgangjeong with cheongyang chili and garlic, made for beer
Mannyeon's spicy dakgangjeong is a bit spicier than Shin Ramyeon, topped with cheongyang chili and garlic.
The spicy flavor is the best... I'm weak to spice so it was a bit hot for me... but that's what beer is for.
With cheongyang chili and garlic mixed in throughout, the spicy flavor is definitely an adult's taste! Eating the sweet-spicy sauce together with the cheongyang chili keeps it from feeling greasy, and I kept reaching for more. Especially paired with beer, it went so well — dakgangjeong plus beer is always a winning combo, haha.
We prepared other food to eat alongside it too, and the dakgangjeong properly played the role of main drinking snack.
Eating with kids? Order the soy and spicy half-and-half
Jeonju Hanok Village has so much food that it's always hard to decide where to go, but dakgangjeong is easy to eat and good for takeout to your home or lodging, so it works well for food in Jeonju Hanok Village. Eating just one flavor can get a little tiring partway through, but going soy then spicy swings between sweet-savory and spicy, so I'd highly recommend the half-and-half.
If you're eating with kids, I recommend the soy + spicy half-and-half combo like we did! For anyone heading to the hanok village with kids, or looking for a snack, late-night bite, or something to go with beer, give Mannyeon Dakgangjeong a try~~
