Haeundae café for traditional interiors with family: Suwolgyeonghwa

If you are planning a trip to Busan and visiting Songjeong Beach, there is a lovely place to stop by as well. It is Suwolgyeonghwa, right at the entrance to Songjeong Beach.

When people think of an ocean-view café in Busan, they often picture a stylish space looking out to the sea through floor-to-ceiling windows. Suwolgyeonghwa was a little different. It pairs the sea view with a distinctly Korean sensibility, making it a great fit for anyone looking for a different kind of café in Busan.

Suwolgyeonghwa location and parking

It is on the fourth floor at 188 Songjeongjungang-ro 6beon-gil, Haeundae-gu, Busan, South Korea. Being near the entrance to Songjeong Beach makes it an easy visit after looking around the beach.

The piloti space on the building's first floor can be used for parking, though it operates with double parking. Still, since finding a café around Songjeong Beach where you can park is not always easy, having parking available for café guests was quite welcome. Hours are 11:00–23:00 daily, with last orders at 22:30.

Korean-inspired interiors

The first thing that struck me upon entering Suwolgyeonghwa was the atmosphere created by the space itself.

Natural materials including wood were placed throughout, while ceramics and traditional furniture were used like objects. Rather than simply arranging traditional props, everything blended naturally with the structure of the space and felt aesthetically considered.

It was fun to look at the traditional paintings and assorted objects dotted around the café, and the soft lighting added to the calm, tranquil atmosphere.

We visited on a weekday afternoon, and it was relatively quiet, so we could enjoy the space at an unhurried pace.

An ocean view of Songjeong

After visiting, I understood why Suwolgyeonghwa is known as a Songjeong ocean-view café. Songjeong Beach is visible through the windows, and if you are lucky, you can also see the Songjeong Beach Train passing by. Unlike a typical ocean-view café focused only on the sea, this place has its own charm in the way its Korean-inspired interiors mingle with the Songjeong scenery. Busan has so many ocean-view cafés, but it seems uncommon to find one where you can feel this traditional atmosphere too.

Dalbodeure Box and traditional desserts

Among the items we ordered that day, the memorable one was the Dalbodeure Box, ₩13,000.

Inside the pretty box were Korean traditional desserts alongside financiers, a Western-style dessert. The presentation was lovely, so it would be nice to eat yourself, but I also thought it could make a good Busan travel souvenir for an overseas friend or family member.

The modern takes on Korean traditional snacks made with injeolmi soybean powder and jocheong rice syrup were also memorable, and we enjoyed the monaka too.

And the chestnut sikhye, a sweet rice drink, was especially nice for its gently sweet flavor.

There is also a wide selection of teas, and being able to try menu items that blend several teas was another fun part unique to Suwolgyeonghwa.

Why it is good to visit with family in Busan

Suwolgyeonghwa felt like more than just a café where you have a cup of coffee while looking at the sea... haha. It is a place where you can experience the space, tea, desserts, and a Korean atmosphere all together.

If you come to Songjeong Beach, it is also a nice place to take a break after walking by the sea and watching the Songjeong Beach Train. I would especially recommend it to anyone looking for an atmosphere a little different from the usual ocean-view café.

If you are looking for places to visit in Busan or a Songjeong ocean-view café, stop by at least once. The blue Songjeong sea and the tranquil beauty of Korea come together here, so I think it will remain a rather memorable café from a Busan trip.
