Fig, nuts, and Lotus financiers tasted side by side: CORR, Dongnae

In short

CORR is a financier-focused dessert café on Yeogo-ro in Dongnae-gu, Busan. Ordering basil pesto, fig, nuts, and Lotus financiers plus a dujjonkku (double chewy cookie) to compare, the crust cracked audibly crisp while the inside stayed moist and chewy. With 10 financier flavors to choose from and two private rooms, CORR also works well as a meeting spot in Sajik-dong.

I love baked goods so I've eaten a lot of highly-rated financiers, haha! While searching for a financier spot near cafes in Sajik-dong, I visited CORR, known as one of Busan's top three financier shops😊 The crust was the crispiest and had the richest, most buttery flavor of any financier I've had — it was seriously impressive from the very first bite.

What's the vibe like? Two private rooms

CORR is near the back gate of Busan National University of Education and the courthouse intersection.

It looked spacious from outside too, and once inside there were sofa seats along the window and a large table in the center good for groups. Brown-toned walls and wood furniture mixed with lush plants for a warm yet stylish atmosphere🌿

CORR also has two separate private rooms, which seemed great for finding a meeting spot in Sajik-dong😊 Best of all, the male owner was so kind while I was picking out the menu that I felt good the moment I walked in😊

When you order the fine French tea brand Kusmi, it seems they serve it in this pretty teacup — the owner's sense of style really shows here!

Tasting notes: four financiers and the dujjonkku

A CORR financier with a firmly baked crust

Just picking up CORR's financiers by hand, you could feel the crust was baked firm! The moment I bit in it cracked audibly crisp, while the inside was moist and chewy — the contrast in texture was unmistakable.

Above all, the rich, nutty flavor of the butter came through so strongly that this was the most delicious financier I've had!

Basil pesto

The basil pesto had fragrant basil plus a salty note, and I'd recommend it to anyone who doesn't like overly sweet desserts.

Fig financier topped with dried fig

Fig

The fig had a large piece of sweet dried fig on top, and plenty packed inside too, so it was totally my style since I love figs! Honestly a lot of places skimp on ingredients, but here they were so generous with it.. I was touched😂

Nuts financier covered in peanuts

Nuts

The nuts financier had nutty peanuts covering every bit of the top, and the crunchy nuts paired really well with the buttery flavor.

Lotus financier topped with crumble

Lotus

The Lotus had a crisp crumble on top combined with sweet cinnamon flavor, making it the sweetest and most enjoyable of the four.

Dujjonkku

The dujjonkku was packed full of kadayif inside, with lots of white chocolate along with pistachio, giving it a charm completely different from the financiers.

Final thoughts

Closing shot of financiers and drink on the table
  • The crispiest, most delicious financier I've tried
  • Rich buttery flavor is the main draw
  • A café with a kind owner and spacious private rooms 💖

With so many financier flavors to choose from, it was fun picking different ones, and it's a place I want to revisit to try more flavors.
