Seocho burger restaurant for solo lunch: Bas Burger Jamwon Branch

In short

Bas Burger Jamwon Branch is a handmade burger restaurant in Seocho, Seoul, with bar seating and a semi-outdoor terrace. I lingered over a customized Hawaiian burger, beer, free James Gam chips, coleslaw, and Mozza Chicken Bites during a late solo lunch. A lovely place to eat exactly what you want, at your own pace.

I love burgers. Handmade burgers, fast food—I give unconditional support and love to whichever brand happens to be closest, haha. This is my relaxed, romance-filled record of eating alone at a great Jamwon-dong spot, dropping in for a slightly late lunch after a long time away.

Introduction to Bas Burger Jamwon Branch

The reason I came to Bas Burger Jamwon Branch was that it is a great spot for solo dining. I usually have Bas Burger delivered or get it to go, but this branch has pretty bar seats and large tables. Order at the kiosk, grab your pager, and take a seat!

The romance of eating alone is daytime drinking. I got started early with a beer and potato chips. The chips are James Gam, which Bas Burger Jamwon Branch offers for free; they were thick, salty, and crisp, perfect with beer. I nearly finished an entire beer with just these. Hehe.

I switched the side in the Hawaiian set menu to coleslaw. It is a side I like more than fries. It is crunchy and cuts through the richness. (Fries lovers, please close your eyes..)

Mozza Chicken Bites with beer

Mozza Chicken Bites are a popular item at Bas Burger Jamwon Branch. They put mozzarella inside chicken and fry it with a spicy kick. It is a combination that simply cannot taste bad. They will give you a knife if you ask, and when I sliced them up, the cheese went all melty and oozy~~ Naturally, these were also really great with beer.

Bas Burger Jamwon Branch offers no fewer than seven sauces. Hahahahahahahaha, so many hahaha. The sauce colors are pretty and the combinations are wild, but I like Bas Burger in its pure, original form, so I am just going to eat it as is today. (It is delicious plain, too.)

A Hawaiian burger with a fried egg and hash brown

At last, the main dish: the Hawaiian burger. I added a fried egg and hash brown, and switched the onion to grilled onion! Things that make a burger delicious when you add them: fried egg, pineapple, and hash brown. Remember just these three and you can have a delicious burger anywhere.

My hefty Hawaiian burger, customized exactly how I like it, has arrived!! This is the most exciting moment.

I cut through the filling between the soft bun, admire the cross-section once, then nom nom, dig in. Isn’t the advantage of eating alone that you can eat exactly how you want? I savored it slowly and leisurely. Sometimes, you need time like this.

One happy point about Bas Burger Jamwon Branch, a great Jamwon-dong restaurant, is that you can have unlimited James Gam chips at the self-service bar.

You can also take ketchup, mayonnaise, salt, pepper, and more as you please. Being able to nibble potato chips with a beer first—how can this be so nice?

There are wet wipes and straws on the other side, too.

A semi-outdoor terrace and plenty of seating

Clean fast-food-style interior

Bas Burger Jamwon Branch has the clean, upscale feel of a fast-food restaurant.

I enjoyed my solo meal on this pretty semi-outdoor terrace.

There is also a dining area like this beside the restaurant,

and there were more seats than I expected, so you can have a perfectly nice time dining in as well as getting takeout or delivery.

Bas Burger Jamwon Branch is easy to reach from Exit 4 of Sinsa Station or Exit 7 of Nonhyeon Station. There are lots of delicious, cute little Jamwon-dong restaurants around here, so it is fun to look around the streets, too!

  • Mon–Fri 10:30–21:00; Sat–Sun 11:00–20:30
  • There is no on-site parking. There are no public parking lots nearby either...
  • I ate alone, but there is surprisingly quite a lot of dining space. Totally suitable for lunch or dinner with friends, family, or a partner!
