Hello everyone hahaha, this is Majorica. It's been a while since I did a weekday lunch review. Today I'm introducing a braised pollock spot near Bongcheon Station, a lunch favorite in Bongcheon-dong: Sangdo Neulbori Bongcheon Station Branch.

3 minutes from Bongcheon Station — what's on the menu?

With a name like Neulbori ("always barley"), you can guess this place serves barley-based meals — and sure enough, it's a barley bibimbap, cockle bibimbap, braised pollock, and octopus hot-plate stir-fry (also with duck) restaurant a 3-minute walk from Bongcheon Station. Highly recommend it for a family meal near Bongcheon Station.

How much is the lunch special?

The lunch special is just ₩13,000 per person for braised pollock, or ₩14,000 for duck and octopus stir-fried on a hot plate.

The braised pollock isn't just the plain version either — there's also dried radish greens pollock, abalone pollock, and more, so order to your taste. There are side dishes too, like spicy raw anchovy salad, seasoned cockles, and buckwheat pancake, so plenty of people come here not just for a meal but for a drink as well. We arrived around 11:50am on a weekday, pretty much right at opening. The seating is spacious too, which is great for anyone looking for a family meal near Bongcheon Station.

Scorched rice tea and coffee at the self-serve bar, plus a self-serve bibimbap zone

The self-serve bar has scorched rice tea (sungnyung) ready for after the meal. This is exactly why I'd recommend it for a family meal near Bongcheon Station — grandparents love this kind of scorched rice tea.

There's coffee after the meal too.

This braised pollock and Bongcheon-dong lunch spot also has a self-serve bibimbap zone, where you scoop out young radish greens, spring cabbage, and bean sprouts into a metal bowl, then mix them with gochujang (red chili paste) and sesame oil. I enjoyed it a lot — more on that below.

A place one person visits 100 times, rather than 100 people visiting once

They say they're striving to be the kind of place where one person comes back 100 times, rather than one where 100 people come once. There are famous spots you visit because they blew up online or on Instagram, only to find them disappointing and never return — but then there are the neighborhood places you stumble into without much thought, and end up thinking about and coming back to again and again. This place aims to be the latter.

Seaweed soup and various basic side dishes came out.

Now we add rice to the bibimbap ingredients we scooped up earlier and mix it all together. The set meal comes standard with rice and steamed egg.

One mouthful of this alone was so filling and satisfying that nothing else came to mind.

Adding buckwheat pancake — no need to go all the way to Bongpyeong

On top of the two lunch sets, we ordered a ₩10,000 buckwheat pancake (memil jeonbyeong). Now that the Bongpyeong Buckwheat Flower Festival is starting, a lot of people travel to Bongpyeong just for buckwheat pancake — but you don't need to go that far. Eat it here instead. The pairing of the braised pollock set and the buckwheat pancake works really well. I recommend it to anyone visiting.

The well-braised radish had soaked up the seasoning nicely and was delicious, and there were bits of rice cake mixed in too.
