Bongcheon Korean restaurant siraegi kodari for two: Sangdo Neulbori
In short
Sangdo Neulbori Bongcheon Station Branch is a Korean restaurant in Gwanak, Seoul, just in front of the big crosswalk by Bongcheon Station. The writer ordered siraegi kodari for two (half-dried pollock braised with dried radish greens), finding the greens tender and the potatoes underneath soft and floury, then spooned both plus flakes of fish into the self-serve bibimbap. At Sangdo Neulbori the sides stole the show from the main dish, and the plate went back empty.

I was craving a hearty Korean meal near Bongcheon Station, so I stopped by Sangdo Neulbori Bongcheon Station Branch. This time I ordered the siraegi kodari 2-inbun (braised pollock with dried radish greens for two). The main dish was good, but the vegetables and potato that came with it were what really stuck with me. Add in the self-serve bibimbap, and it turned into a seriously filling meal.

Where is Sangdo Neulbori near Bongcheon Station?
Sangdo Neulbori Bongcheon Station Branch was easy to reach from the station — it sits right in front of the big crosswalk. Once you step inside, the space is more spacious than you'd expect.

There are plenty of tables, so it works well for two people but also feels comfortable for a bigger group. It seemed like a solid choice for a family meal with parents or for finding a spot for a gathering. Since the menu centers on Korean food, it seemed like something everyone could enjoy.

Ordering siraegi kodari for two at Sangdo Neulbori
What I ordered that day was the siraegi kodari 2-inbun. It came with a generous helping of radish, potato, and dried radish greens alongside the big pieces of fish, and the moment it was set on the table, all I could think about was rice.

The sauce was spicy with a savory depth and a hint of sweetness trailing behind, which paired really well with plain rice. The flesh was moist and soaked in sauce, making it easy to pick apart piece by piece.

The tender dried radish greens I kept reaching for
Personally, my favorite part of the meal was the dried radish greens. Braised thoroughly, they were soft with no toughness or fibrousness, and they'd soaked up so much sauce that even a single bite carried a rich flavor.

The earthy, nutty flavor combined with the spicy-sweet sauce made it perfect over rice. At some point I realized I was picking at this more eagerly than the main dish.

I'd actually gone for the fish, but I kept reaching for the vegetables underneath instead. Spooned over rice, they were satisfying enough on their own without needing any other side dishes.

I thought it was radish — it was soft, floury potato
The radish was also well-seasoned, soft, and delicious, but the real surprise was the potato. At first glance, given the large chunks, I just assumed it was radish. But the moment I bit in, it crumbled into a fluffy texture, and I found myself looking again in disbelief.

The outside was fully infused with the braising flavor, while the inside stayed light and comforting, giving a great textural contrast. Even after being cooked thoroughly, it never turned mushy or fell apart, staying delicious to the last bite.

The radish was tasty too, but I never expected the potato — which I hadn't given any thought to at all — to end up being so memorable.

How the self-serve bibimbap works with the greens and fish
Another thing I liked about Sangdo Neulbori was that you could make your own bibimbap (mixed rice) at a self-serve station. After piling on vegetables to my liking, I tried sneaking in some of the dried radish greens from the braise.

This combination was really good. Amid the light, nutty bibimbap, the spicy sauce flavor added in and the seasoning landed just right.

The soft greens blended naturally with the rice, adding good texture along with that earthy flavor.

Add a bit of fish on top and take a big bite, and each spoonful feels properly packed. Even though I was already pretty full, this combination made it hard to put my spoon down. It was, personally, the tastiest way I ate that day.

Is Sangdo Neulbori good for a family meal in Bongcheon?
If you're looking for a good braised pollock spot near Bongcheon Station, Sangdo Neulbori Bongcheon Station Branch is worth a look. The main dish was satisfying, but the softly braised dried radish greens, fluffy potato, and the build-your-own bibimbap rounded out a really solid meal.

It's a good place to head to when you're craving a hearty Korean spread. The restaurant is spacious enough for family meals or group gatherings, and I think next time I'll probably order the siraegi kodari again.

In particular, I really want to have that combination again — bibimbap piled high with vegetables. It was, quite literally, a meal I finished right down to the plate.
