Seongsu restaurant for kimchi fried rice omelet: Seongsu Darak

A Western-style restaurant to visit before or after exploring Seongsu showrooms

I found Seongsu Darak when I was out in Seongsu recently and felt like having some delicious Western-style food. There are so many great places to eat in Seongsu that choosing can be difficult, but Seongsu Darak had a lovely atmosphere and a varied menu, making it a nice restaurant for dates, get-togethers with friends, and even family meals.

It is open daily from 11:30 to 21:15, with last orders at 20:30. Group meals and reservations are available, too.

Seongsu Darak is close to the cluster of showrooms in Seongsu-dong, one of Seoul's hottest areas, so it is well located for a meal after shopping or browsing. These days, Seongsu is so much fun for checking out pretty pop-up stores and brand showrooms, but all that walking around naturally makes you hungry, right? It felt like a great addition to a Seongsu date itinerary because you can take care of a delicious meal, too.

The Darak Omelet Rice and Corn Gnocchi pairing

This time, we ordered the Darak Omelet Rice (다락오므라이스) and Corn Gnocchi (옥수수뇨끼). The Darak Omelet Rice sounded lightly spicy and savory, while the Corn Gnocchi sounded soft and nutty, so I thought they would make a great pairing. Actually, we love omelet rice so much that the four of us ordered three omelet rice dishes and one gnocchi! For the record, we scraped every last bit of omelet rice off the plates.

Darak Omelet Rice with kimchi fried rice

First up, the Darak Omelet Rice is ₩16,000. It looked as appetizing as it tasted, and the soft egg and sauce went so well together that it was easy to enjoy without feeling too heavy. Most of all, the kimchi fried rice inside the omelet was so, so good!!

Omelet rice is a familiar dish, but enjoying it in Seongsu Darak's own atmosphere made it feel even more special. It is a satisfying meal that also lets you enjoy that distinctive Western-style dining mood, so it is a must-order for a first visit. I have personally decided that it is Seongsu Darak's signature dish, haha.

It is so delicious that elementary school-aged kids bury their faces in it while eating, and they like it that much~ Whenever we go to Seongsu-dong, they always ask to go eat Seongsu Darak's omelet rice~ Looking around, I also saw middle schoolers visiting with friends and ordering omelet rice. It is officially a kid-friendly menu too^^

Sweet and nutty Corn Gnocchi

And the Corn Gnocchi I had been looking forward to was ₩18,000. The chewy gnocchi had the sweet, nutty flavor of corn added to it, giving it a charm quite different from ordinary gnocchi.

Eating it with the soft corn-flavored sauce let a subtle nutty flavor spread through the mouth, so it was nice to order alongside the omelet rice and enjoy two very different flavors.

From dates to family meals

Seongsu Darak is a great restaurant where every menu item feels distinctive while still being easy for everyone to like, creating a satisfying meal for families, couples on dates, and groups of friends alike. Rather than being a restaurant for one specific age group, it felt like a comfortable place for people of all ages to visit and eat.

It is a good stop before or after checking out Seongsu's hot spots and showrooms, and it works equally well for dates, gatherings with friends, or family dining out.
