Today I found a place that's really serious about meat, so I have to introduce it. It's Ggupdda near Deungchon Station — a Korean BBQ restaurant that keeps prices reasonable while still delivering on meat quality and quantity!

I booked through Catch Table, but you can also reserve via Naver Reservations~

Location and parking near Deungchon Station

Ggupdda is about a 5-minute walk from Deungchon Station, so it's easy to get to. I actually drove there,

and there's no dedicated parking lot, but you can use the public parking lot right next door! When I used it, one hour cost only about ₩750, which is really cheap. Great to know parking isn't a burden even if you drive there!!

Storefront

Ggupdda's storefront with a green door and sign

Thanks to the bright sign and green door, it was easy to spot even from a distance. There's a board out front with the signature menu and prices, which was handy for checking what they offer — and I noticed you can enjoy water dropwort and pork belly together.

Interior and amenities

Ggupdda's interior with generously spaced tables

Inside, the tables weren't cramped and there were plenty of seats. Every table has a tablet for ordering, so you can order comfortably from your seat. While I was there, I noticed quite a few regulars who clearly knew their way around — seems like a place with a loyal following. All the staff wore hairnets, which showed real attention to hygiene!!

Indoor restroom with mouthwash provided

It was also convenient that the restroom is inside the restaurant, and the thoughtful touch of having mouthwash ready was amazing.

Disposable aprons and baby chairs were also available.

Menu and pricing

Instead of just selling pork belly by the platter, they let you combine different cuts into one order. You can put together a platter with water dropwort pork belly, fresh pork neck, pork jowl, or pork skirt meat depending on your taste — great if you're visiting with others who each want something different.

I ordered the water dropwort pork belly + pork jowl combo, 600g for ₩36,000, along with bibim makguksu (spicy buckwheat noodles) for ₩6,000.

Basic side dishes and self-service bar

Basic table setting with wrap vegetables and sauces

There's a wide variety of vegetables and sauces prepared to eat with the meat. Basic wrap vegetables like lettuce, perilla leaves, and garlic were fresh, and you can mix and match with salt, wasabi, ssamjang (soybean paste dip), and more to your taste.

Self-service bar for extra side dishes

Extra banchan (side dishes) could be refilled as needed from the self-service bar, which was convenient.

A generous plate of water dropwort

The water dropwort also came in a generous amount. You could really feel the owner's sincerity in not skimping on the food. One doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) comes free of charge!

How was the pork belly + jowl combo?

As soon as the meat hit the grill, I could tell the quality was good. The pork belly was thick with an even ratio of fat to lean meat, and the pork jowl looked firm and springy — so tempting T.T

The pork belly, grilled to a golden brown, was savory on the outside and juicy inside. The pork jowl had that distinctive chewy texture and savoriness that came through more with every bite. Grilling it with plenty of water dropwort on top cut through the pork's richness nicely. Piling grilled kimchi and bean sprouts onto a bite makes this combo the kind that calls for rice.

Even with just a touch of wasabi, you could really taste the meat's natural flavor. Given the price, the meat quality and quantity were both satisfying — great value.

Bibim makguksu

Sweet and tangy bibim makguksu

The bibim makguksu (spicy buckwheat noodles) I ordered to go with the meat exceeded expectations too. The seasoning wasn't too sweet or overpowering, striking a good sweet-and-sour balance. It was well-seasoned enough that I didn't need to add mustard or vinegar. Topping it with a well-grilled piece of meat was a great pairing. Alternating between the savory meat and the refreshing noodle sauce, I couldn't put my chopsticks down even though I was full.

Service and post-meal course

Above all, the staff were incredibly, incredibly kind. They checked in carefully to see if we needed anything and responded quickly, so I could stay in a good mood throughout the meal. From hygiene to the side dish spread to service, I got the impression this place pays attention to every small detail. Many tables around me ordered fried rice at the end. I wanted to try it too, but between the combo platter and the noodles I was way too full, so I had to pass this time T.T

The alleys of Mokdong Kkaebi Market explored after the meal

After the meal, I took a stroll around Mokdong Kkaebi Market right next door. Since I'd eaten so much meat, I'd recommend a market walk afterward to head off a bit of a blood sugar spike haha.

Overall review

  • Good meat quality
  • Generous amount of water dropwort
  • Kind service
  • Great value for money

If you're looking for a good Korean BBQ restaurant near Deungchon Station, this is a place I can confidently recommend to friends. You get to try pork belly and pork jowl in one sitting, plus water dropwort, grilled kimchi, bean sprouts, and a variety of sauces!

There's no dedicated parking lot, but the public lot right next door is cheap, so driving there is more convenient than expected. Most of all, the meat quality and quantity for the price were excellent, so I'm very, very satisfied — satisfied enough that I'd want to come back next time I'm in the neighborhood. Next time I'll save some room and definitely try the fried rice haha. Recommending Ggupdda bbbbb
