Busan barbecue with spicy kalguksu: Donbegi Gwang-an Branch
In short
Donbegi Gwang-an Branch is a grilled-meat restaurant in Suyeong, Busan, near Millak The Market. On a busy weekday evening, I had the Couple Assorted Set with ogeopsal, shoulder rack, bibim kalguksu, and doenjang jjigae. Verdict: the nutty shoulder rack and spicy noodle pairing were especially good.

Donbegi in Gwangalli
I can't believe there was such a hot grilled-meat spot in Gwangalli...! It's near Millak The Market, and even though it was a weekday, it was absolutely packed. We got there around 6, and between barely any open tables + reserved guests, we just managed to eat. They had a group booking at 7:30!! They asked if it would be okay for us to finish by 7:30, and I was like YES!!! Of course it is!!! Little TMI there... Thank you for being flexible, hehe...
Oh, and they open from daytime, but there's no break time either?!?! Not many meat restaurants do that, so this is seriously going straight into my saved places...!
Exterior and parking

You can park in the officetel right in front. They support 2 hours! When we went, there were no spots on basement level 1, so we just parked by Millak The Market. The weather was nice for walking anyway~

It says wheelchair access is possible at the entrance and inside, but do you have to enter from the other side...? There is a step if you come in through this entrance, sooooo I'm not sure...
Inside and side dishes

This is what the entrance side looks like. There's a step, so how would a wheelchair get in,,, I guess the staff would figure something out..?
There is group seating too,

and a self-service bar for vegetables and things.

Donbegi in Gwangalli has quite a variety of banchan (Korean side dishes)! I was happy to see kelp, and then happy again to see white kimchi. Weirdly, they also had myeongran (seasoned pollock roe)?! It wasn't very salty, and it was amazing with the meat!

There is bean sprout soup too... I really love bean sprouts, so I drank it all before the meat even came out. I got the lettuce from the self-service bar!

The grill is on.
Menu and order

I meant to eat pork skin but forgot!!!!

How the ogeopsal and shoulder rack tasted
The shoulder rack is interesting. You can choose pork neck or ogeopsal (five-layer pork belly), and since we don't really know meat cuts.... there was no special reason... we just chose ogeopsal, hehe.

At Donbegi in Gwangalli, the staff grill everything for you! But they looked so busy (it was full except for the group tables..), so I said something like, if you're busy I can grill it, and ended up grilling it myself! I like grilling too, hehehehe.

Shoulder rack! It had a little more chew than ogeopsal. It kind of felt like pork neck too...

For the first bite, salt is the way to go.

It is seriously delicious topped with myeongran . . ! I also grilled the ogeopsal, lined up so neatly and prettily. I grilled it, but I think I arranged it really... nicely... Or maybe not, hehe.

Both were delicious! Personally, the shoulder rack felt a bit nuttier?! Maybe because it was thicker, haha.

I don't usually wrap meat in lettuce (I like lettuce, but it's a hassle..), but the lettuce was good and the meat went so well with it that I made a ton of wraps. How interesting, hahaha. Is there meat that just goes especially well with lettuce,,,,?

Donbegi in Gwangalli was delicious no matter how I ate it. I really love having lots of side dishes~~~~

Hahaha, I don't know whether this is normally something you grill and eat, but it felt too precious to waste, so I picked off the meat stuck to the bone too,,,

Doenjang jjigae and bibim kalguksu
When you're eating meat, doenjang is a must! The doenjang jjigae (fermented soybean paste stew) was delicious!!! Number one among the ones I've had lately.. It felt like it had quite a lot of ssamjang in it? But it was completely my taste... You have to get it.

They had bibim kalguksu (spicy mixed knife-cut noodles), so I was curious and ordered it. Bibim kalguksu at a meat restaurant..? I had never seen that before,,,,

You can choose whether to add ttaengcho (spicy chili). I chose to add it, and it was just a little spicy! Not enough to have me panting.

It was refreshing and delicious! I usually prefer noodle soups, but the meat + bibim noodles combination was really good...? If you like bibim noodles, try it, try it.
