Flounder mulhoe with mom at Pohang's pink-building restaurant: Ppwang
In short
Ppwang Mulhoe is a mulhoe (raw fish in cold broth) restaurant in a pink building a short walk from Yeongildae Beach in Pohang, Gyeongbuk. Visiting with her mom who loves mulhoe, the writer ordered flounder mulhoe for 20,000 won, squid pancake for 15,000 won, and shrimp fried rice for 8,000 won, eating by a window that opens wide onto the sea; the self bar side dishes were ordinary but mixing noodles into the mulhoe worked well. Between the flounder's texture and the ocean view, it's a solid pick for a family meal.

Walking distance from Yeongildae Beach, with a pink exterior

The heat is finally starting to fade — how's everyone doing? I couldn't go out much because it was so hot and mostly stayed home, but I really wanted to see the ocean, so I ended up going on a trip to Pohang.
My mom loves mulhoe (raw fish in cold, spicy broth) so much that she said 'if you're eating mulhoe, it has to be Pohang!!' and asked to have some. So we tried Ppwang Mulhoe, located within walking distance of Yeongildae Beach!! Ppwang Mulhoe, a mulhoe restaurant known in Pohang's Yeongildae area — here's my review from visiting with family.
Ppwang Mulhoe is located near Yeongildae Beach. You can eat while looking out at the sea, so it's really easy to access. Parking space is also generous, so there was no worry about bringing a car. This cute pink building is the Ppwang Mulhoe restaurant.
Menu — lots of squid dishes

The menu is quite varied. Starting from basic squid mulhoe and flounder mulhoe, there were a lot of squid-related dishes too, like squid pancake and seasoned squid!! I think that's what sets it apart from other Pohang mulhoe restaurants.
We ordered flounder mulhoe, squid pancake, and shrimp fried rice. It seems like squid mulhoe and flounder mulhoe are the famous items here.
Pink interior and a window opening onto the sea

The interior was decorated uniquely in pink. The tables were spaced generously so we could eat comfortably. The window also opened wide toward the sea, so it was nice being able to eat while looking out at the Yeongildae seascape.

Flounder mulhoe: ₩20,000
We ordered the flounder mulhoe, and even though I'm not usually a big fan of mulhoe, I ate it very happily haha! I think it was the flounder's great texture that made it so enjoyable. I haven't tried the squid mulhoe yet, but I'd like to next time. Highly recommend the flounder mulhoe!!

Squid pancake: ₩15,000
We also had the squid pancake, and it was delicious with squid packed generously inside. The size was huge too. We were completely full after finishing it.

Shrimp fried rice: ₩8,000
The shrimp fried rice was decently good, nothing fancy. It made a nice side dish if you find yourself wanting something to eat with rice.

You could even make your own squid soup self-serve like this!!

Self bar — don't skip the thin noodles
At the self bar you could grab various side dishes to eat. There were a lot of options like tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) and gimmari (fried seaweed rolls), but honestly they were just okay. I'd recommend just grabbing the thin noodles (somyeon). Mixing them into the mulhoe was really good.
Review event
There's currently a Naver Place receipt review event running, where writing a review gets you a mini fried squid snack. We didn't do the review event ourselves, but it seems worth trying.

To sum up
The huge window opening toward the sea felt like a big highlight. It was almost like eating at an ocean-view café.
Lastly, if you're in Pohang and craving flounder mulhoe or squid mulhoe, Ppwang Mulhoe could be a great choice. We had a delicious meal with family, enjoying fresh seafood, tasty mulhoe, and a unique atmosphere.
