Nowon department store food hall café cold brew 2+1: Jeong Ji-young

In short

Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters, Lotte Department Store Nowon is a coffee shop from the Suwon Haenggung-dong brand, newly opened in the renewed basement food hall of Lotte Department Store Nowon in Seoul. Two friends ordered the coconut coffee that has sold 1.11 million cups and tasted its two separate layers of foam and milk, then checked the opening offers: cold brew 2+1 and 20% off coffee with a food court receipt. The coconut aroma is gentle and the sweetness restrained, so the drink suits all ages, but it comes in a disposable cup and cannot be taken into the food court.

Lotte Department Store Nowon finally finished its renewal recently. Part of the fun of going to a department store is the eating and browsing the food, but for a while every time I went to Lotte Nowon, something felt lacking. I was curious which brands would move in after the renewal, and turns out Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters (정지영커피로스터즈), famous for coconut coffee in Suwon, has opened a branch!!! It's a bit of a trek to Suwon, but I couldn't pass up somewhere close by, so I ran right over 💪

Where is Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters in Lotte Department Store Nowon?

Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters, Lotte Department Store Nowon is in the basement 1 food hall. The food hall was always under construction whenever I visited, so seeing the newly renewed look made it feel like a completely different place!!!

Among all the shops, the one I visited this time is Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters, already famous as a coconut coffee spot in Suwon's Haenggung neighborhood.

Ordering the coconut coffee that has sold 1.11 million cups

This is the Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters menu board. I'm usually an iced americano person no matter what, but I couldn't pass up the coconut coffee here, said to have sold a whopping 1.11 million cups, so I ordered that. I went with a friend, and she ordered the exact same coconut coffee!

Cold brew bottles and drip bags: how do they work as coffee gifts?

They also sell a whole shelf of cold brew coffee. Since it's a spot famous for its coffee, the cold brew seemed like it'd be tasty too, and good to buy as a gift.

While waiting, I noticed they sell all sorts of products. The drip bags even have Suwon Haenggung printed on the packaging, which made me think of my younger sibling, who's been having a rough time at work lately. Both the cold brew and the drip bags are perfect gift items, so they'd be a great option for anyone stuck on what coffee gift to buy.

They also sell branded merchandise, and those flat pencils were so pretty. I have no real use for a pencil right now so I passed, but it'd be a lovely little gift for friends too ✨✨

While waiting for our coffee, since it's an open kitchen (?) setup, I could watch the baristas brewing right in front of me.

What opening events are running at the Nowon branch?

I was curious what kind of events they'd have for a new opening, and Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters is running these:

  • Cold brew buy 2 get 1 free (Sept 4, 2026 – Sept 23, 2026)
  • 20% off coffee for food court customers (Sept 1, 2026 – Sept 30, 2026)

If you're planning to visit for the opening, it's nice to get the event benefits applied. Everyone check it out and grab the deal 🙌

How does the coconut coffee taste?

And then our ordered coconut coffee arrived! I got excited wondering, is this the famous Jeong Ji-young coconut coffee?

Disposable cup of coconut coffee showing its two separate layers
Holding two cups of coconut coffee

At first I tried it with the two layers completely separate, and even the milk at the bottom already had a coconut aroma with a soft, sweet milk taste. It was surprisingly neat how the two layers were kept so distinctly apart.

Close-up of the thick foam layer on top of the coconut coffee

The foam on top looked super dense just by sight, and it had a sweet taste too. Thanks to how thick the foam was, even after mixing, the foam stayed intact. Overall it had a gentle coconut aroma with that trendy sweet, deep latte flavor these days, and I kept going back for sip after sip. Usually with a latte the shot just goes straight in, so it was fascinating how the shot portion had somehow been turned into foam here. With its not-overly-sweet flavor that people of any age would like, I could see this becoming a steady favorite at the Lotte Nowon branch, which draws such a wide range of ages 👏👏

One drawback: coffee cannot be drunk inside the food court

One thing though — it's served in a disposable cup, so it can't be used inside the food court! I was carrying mine around while shopping at Lotte so it didn't matter to me, but if that matters to you, keep it in mind and enjoy the tasty coconut coffee 👍
