Dinner with a kid at LA RUELLE, a Gongneung-dong French restaurant

In short

LA RUELLE is a French restaurant on the 2nd floor at 18 Gongneung-ro 35-gil in Nowon, Seoul, right by Gongneung-dong's Dokkaebi Market. The writer and her young son ate a three-course dinner at LA RUELLE — bisque pasta, boeuf bourguignon and French toast — with a complimentary appetizer, and a QR code that recommends wine by MBTI type. LA RUELLE has no kids' chair, but if your child can sit alone it's an easy place to share French cooking together.

A date night with my beloved little guy at LA RUELLE, a great spot in Gongneung-dong. We even made room for dessert haha.

We properly enjoyed real French cooking. My son gave it 5 spoons out of 5, and so did I ^^ Soft, gentle, carefully made French food — I recommend LA RUELLE. It's right near Dokkaebi Market ^^

Can you bring a child to LA RUELLE?

It's a kid-friendly restaurant — there's no kids' chair, but it's a great place to enjoy French cooking together with your child

Not for a tiny newborn ^^ but if your child can walk and sit on their own, it's a great place to bring them by the hand and let them experience French cuisine.

A sparkling little slice of France inside ^^

Being indoors, it still reminded me of eating on a terrace on a Paris street. That's why I'd recommend it as a date spot for couples too.

Even the way up stirred my emotions, and once I opened the door I really felt like I'd stepped into France ^^ Thanks to the atmosphere, the French food tasted even better.

A cozy interior — the tables and chairs all had a lovely vibe.

The complimentary appetizer at LA RUELLE

This little appetizer went straight down my son's belly

He said it was so good. Pretty bowl, tasty food ^^ They just gave us this appetizer — we didn't order it separately.

LA RUELLE bisque pasta

LA RUELLE's bisque pasta comes with plump shrimp — heads included — so you get a deep, rich shrimp aroma. We ate it happily. My shrimp-obsessed son loved this bisque pasta ^^

Boeuf bourguignon (slow-braised beef in red wine)

Boeuf bourguignon, made with long, careful effort. The texture is similar to our Korean braised soy meat, but so much more tender — it just melts away, easy enough for a child to eat, with an unforgettable softness. It's tender to the point of making you wonder if meat can really get this soft ^^

Every bite tasted like a piece of art. This boeuf bourguignon is exactly the kind of dish that makes you want to come back for more ^^

French toast for dessert

You have to enjoy French cooking as a 3-course meal, dessert included ^^ I wondered what French toast would be like at a French restaurant, so I ordered it — and it was a success ^^ Truly soft, sweet, and satisfying toast ^^

My son and I had a lovely, delicious dinner in a wonderful place. We come to Gongneung often, so next time I'd love to bring the whole family, chat over good conversation, and enjoy delicious French food and wine together.
