Suwon fish restaurant with kids: one-menu-per-adult at Godeungeo
In short
Godeungeo Myeongpumi Doeda Suwon Branch is a wood-fired grilled fish restaurant on Seobu-ro in Gwonseon-gu, Suwon. Visiting on a weekday early evening with two elementary-school-age kids, the writer ordered one grilled mackerel, one grilled Spanish mackerel, and one grilled tonguefish, since the one-menu-per-person rule only applies from middle school age up, letting the family order just enough without leftovers. Between the seaweed soup, the side dishes, and the fish itself, the whole family loved it and is already planning a return visit.

The weather's gotten pretty chilly morning and night. I sent the kids off to school in windbreakers today. Lately I keep thinking how strange it is that nothing feels permanent — everything shifts and changes with time.
Anyway! Let's get to the point — today I want to recommend a genuinely great Suwon restaurant I visited yesterday 😄
Mackerel, made into a luxury item

Godeungeo Myeongpumi Doeda Suwon Branch: location, hours, parking
- 📌 Address: I'll attach the map.
- 📌 Hours: Daily 10:40–22:00 / Last order: 20:50
- 📌 Parking: Available.
- 📌 Baby chair: Available.
The parking lot is huge and outdoors, so parking was really convenient!

At busy times you wait via Catch Table! There's a cafeteria area so you can wait indoors.
Inside the restaurant and baby-friendly facilities
Here's the interior. It was spacious and comfortable! Looked great for groups and also for family meals 😄 I went a bit early on a weekday evening, and while there was no wait, plenty of diners were already eating — living up to its reputation as a T Map-verified favorite.

There's a microwave and a baby chair ready too. Perfect for heating up baby food if you're coming with a little one!! 😍

There's even a water purifier with hot water, which looked handy for mixing formula for babies!
Mackerel in the tank and the wood-fired oven
Maybe because raw mackerel is on the menu, there's a tank in the corner with fresh mackerel swimming around 😆 I've heard mackerel are extremely sensitive and die easily, which is why raw mackerel isn't something you can find just anywhere. But here you can actually try raw mackerel!!

You can see the wood-fired oven too 😄

One menu per person from middle school up — we only ordered 3 servings for two kids
Here's the menu. One menu per person from middle school age up. I really loved this too. A lot of grilled fish places these days require one menu per person starting from elementary school. My kids are both in the early elementary grades, so if we order four dishes we can never finish them and always leave leftovers — here we could order just enough to actually eat! I ordered one grilled mackerel, one grilled Spanish mackerel, one grilled tonguefish 😄

They served water in bottled form.

The side dishes and seaweed soup were the first surprise
The side dishes were genuinely delicious! There were even two small pieces of stir-fried pork. The seaweed soup and every single side dish surprised me with how good they were. My husband said it was the best meal he's had in a while too 👍 Even the kids, who said they wouldn't eat the seaweed soup, took one bite and then inhaled it 🤣

What's at the self-serve bar?
Soup and side dishes are free-refill. Baby forks, small plates, scissors and more are also ready at the self-serve bar. There was even sungnyung (scorched rice tea), but we'd already added an extra bowl of rice and were too full to have any 😂
Soy sauce and wasabi, plus disposable soy sauce dishes, are also set out.
How does the wood-fired tonguefish, mackerel, and Spanish mackerel taste?
The tonguefish, mackerel, and Spanish mackerel came out one serving each. Golden-brown and looking so good, right?? Piled on top of white rice ~
The seasoning was just right — not too salty, not too bland! Plump, moist, savory, and so delicious!! The kids ate really well too. I was on a diet and meant to only eat half a bowl of rice, but… ended up adding a whole extra bowl 🥲 How can anyone resist ㅋㅋㅋㅋ

And finally, sikhye (sweet rice punch) to finish~~~~~~ Such a delicious meal. My family is definitely planning to come back 😄 Ever since trying wood-fired grilled fish, the kids won't eat pan-grilled fish at home anymore… nothing compares to that moisture… 😅 Every single thing — the fish, the sides — was so satisfying that I want to bring my parents next time too. Highly recommend this place 😄
