Today I visited Noju, a hidden gourmet spot tucked into the lanes of Mangwon-dong. Every neatly presented course showed the chef’s delicate care, making this an absolutely perfect place to enjoy an intimate meal while celebrating a special day with someone dear.
Getting to Noju from Mangwon Station and parking
There is no dedicated parking! Mangwon 1-2 Public Parking Lot is a five-minute walk away, so please use that. Parking gets busy on weekends, so I recommend public transportation. It is just a two-minute walk from Mangwon Station Exit 2.
Outside the building

I arrived at Noju! Step a little way into the alley beside the Mangwon-dong makguksu (buckwheat noodle) building and you will see a black NOJU dining signboard with a wine illustration. Follow the stairs beside it to the second floor, and you will arrive at atmospheric Noju.
Noju’s warm wood-toned interior
Warm wood tables and clean black chairs work beautifully together inside, creating a stylish atmosphere without going over the top! The tables are generously spaced, so conversation was very comfortable, and the wine cellar and wine glasses displayed along one side were lovely to look at too. From sunny window seats and intimate tables for two to bar seating and spaces for groups, everything is neatly arranged—highly recommended for dates or gatherings!
Dinner course and wine list

The moment I received the course list, I was so excited by the lineup! Abalone, Black Tiger shrimp, and salchisal (beef chuck flap) steak were already a dream team, and Noju’s signature truffle gnocchi was included too—my anticipation went through the roof! The chef’s lineup, from the bread course through dessert, was so detailed. I was so happy to be able to enjoy a seasonal-ingredient course dinner for ₩89,000.

As soon as I opened the wine list, I thought, anyone looking for a wine bar in Mangwon-dong should come here. They have a full lineup by country, including wines by the glass, Champagne, reds, and whites! Even the non-alcoholic options and digestifs were covered. It is ideal for pairing food and wine on a Mangwon-dong date, and the menu says recommendations beyond the listed wines are available too—wine lovers will be right at home!
Noju’s dinner course in 10 dishes

First dish: focaccia with fig butter
The first pre-meal bread was soft focaccia served with house-made fig butter! The sweet, nutty fig-butter aroma soaked right into the fluffy bread, filling my mouth with umami—completely my kind of thing. It set the mood for a Mangwon-dong course meal from the very first bite and made me even more excited for what came next!
Second dish: beet, endive, and arancini
I ate the second set of dining bites with genuine admiration! From the sweet-tart, crispy beet tart to crisp endive paired with the springy flavor of shrimp, the harmony was a work of art. The arancini, crispy outside and tender inside, held meat so soft that it melted away the moment it hit my mouth, and I could not wait for the next course! Beet, endive, and arancini each had such different charms that everyone would enjoy them.
Third and fourth dishes
The aged fluke (olive flounder) had that distinctive springy texture, wrapped in the fragrant notes of su-miso (vinegared soybean paste), dill oil, and extra-virgin olive oil. Pickled red onion on top cut through the oiliness perfectly, so the balance was incredible. It finished fragrant, fresh, and clean, and I could really feel the chef’s know-how in the way Noju uses sauces.
The fourth dish featured caramelized onion, yuzu ricotta, and crisp croutons. A soft Comté cheese foam was gently placed over the caramelized onion, and the foam’s silky feel, rich cheese flavor, onion sweetness, and yuzu freshness came together like a total fantasy! The crunchy croutons added another layer of texture, making this such an appealing Noju dish.

Fifth dish: charcoal-grilled abalone and seaweed risotto
As soon as the food arrived, the gentle charcoal aroma really hit my nose! The abalone, browned over charcoal, was chewy and bouncy, while the risotto made with seaweed from Taean Gimjangsu had a deep, nutty flavor and a satisfying rice-grain texture. The scent of the sea and charcoal came together so beautifully that I scraped up every last spoonful.

Sixth dish: cannelloni
This dish was made by filling a whole tube of pasta with tender chicken breast and adding a shallow pour of deeply flavored beef-stock broth. The mild chicken and savory meat broth worked brilliantly together, while the subtle freshness of yuzu oil lifted a flavor that could otherwise have felt plain, making it wonderfully clean and appealing! The chef also checked in during the meal to see whether the food suited our tastes, and I could really feel the attentive care given to guests.

Seventh and eighth dishes
The charcoal-grilled Black Tiger shrimp was a true highlight of this course! The rich charcoal fragrance was amazing the instant it reached the table, and the plump, sweet shrimp filled my mouth with every bite. A little squeeze of lemon added bright freshness, and the combination with that charcoal aroma was unreal!
The Italian summer-truffle gnocchi arrived topped generously with sliced Italian summer truffle, and its distinctive, rich aroma filled the air straight away. The gnocchi melted so softly in my mouth that there was barely time to chew, and its pairing with the nutty, luscious truffle cream sauce was simply outstanding. From the depth of the truffle scent to the dough’s texture, everything was perfect—I immediately understood why it is a signature dish!

Ninth dish: salchisal steak
The salchisal steak was cooked with such precision that it melted softly in my mouth without any need to chew—its tenderness was truly superb! Paired with zucchini that retained its tender texture and a pleasantly spicy, pungent jalapeño sauce, it cut through any richness and created perfect harmony. I also loved the owner’s thoughtfulness in warning us beforehand that some people may find the jalapeño sauce spicy.

Tenth dish: mille-feuille and walnut ice cream
Crisp pastry held a first layer of sweet peach compote with little pieces of peach to bite into, plus a second layer of pleasantly bitter coffee ice cream—it was pure bliss! Having the nutty walnut ice cream served alongside with the mille-feuille made for a refined sweet finish, a perfect Mangwon-dong dining dessert.

Whenever each dish was placed down, the chef explained it in detail, so I felt continuously looked after throughout the meal and was very satisfied! It was a shame that I drove and could not have wine with the food. I will have to return next time and try it with wine!!
What I loved about Noju
- You can enjoy 10 polished dishes made with seasonal ingredients, from abalone, Black Tiger shrimp, and salchisal steak to the signature truffle gnocchi.
- The chef explains every dish in detail and checks throughout the meal whether it suits your taste, making you feel genuinely cared for.
- The warm wood tones and clean black chairs create an atmospheric setting, while the wide table spacing makes conversation comfortable.
- There are wines by the glass as well as Champagne, red and white wines, non-alcoholic drinks, and digestifs, making it excellent for pairing with the food!
- It is a two-minute walk from Mangwon Station Exit 2, so visiting by public transportation is very convenient even on busy parking weekends!
The atmosphere is lovely, of course, but this is also a truly well-rounded Mangwon-dong course meal—just right for a date in Mangwon-dong. With its varied, beautifully presented dishes, it is also excellent for treating colleagues or important guests, so I highly recommend it! 👍👍👍
