I went out for meat near Sunae Station after a long while. This time I wanted actual Jeju black pork instead of plain pork belly, so I looked around and ended up here — and found a way better pork belly spot than I expected!!! There are plenty of BBQ places near Sunae Station, but this one is genuinely good for proper Jeju black pork. I visited on a weekday and was surprised how many people were there — almost every table was full. This place gets a lot of company dinner groups from nearby offices, so there's a lot of waiting even on weekdays!!

Where to park at Jeju Monteurak Sunae

You can park in the building's own lot or at the Bobos Cherville officetel right next door! The building's lot uses mechanical parking, so I always use the Bobos Cherville officetel instead. It's right next door, one minute on foot!! If mechanical parking isn't your thing, park at Bobos Cherville officetel.

A spacious dining room, great for group dinners

Above all, the dining room is much bigger than I expected. Lots of tables, and the vibe works well for group seating, so it's good for a family meal and also fits gatherings with several people. That's why I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a group-dinner spot near Sunae Station.

It was a little quiet since it was the weekend, but since we'd booked ahead, the table was already set up like this when we arrived haha. Already mouthwatering just from the basic setup!!

The side dishes — that green onion salad seasoning is insane

Jeju Monteurak Sunae has genuinely great meat, but the side dishes overall were solid too. Some BBQ places nail the meat but the side dishes are just okay — here my chopsticks kept going back to the green onion salad. That seasoning is insane lol. Piling it on with each bite of meat made everything taste even better.

A staff member grills it for you, start to finish

A staff member grills the meat for you the whole way through. This was way more convenient than I expected. Usually at a BBQ place, there's the awkward moment of who's going to grill, and sometimes you're so busy grilling you can't really eat — but here the staff handles it perfectly, so we just got to relax and eat. This kind of service is especially great for group dinners. No need to assign a designated griller — everyone can just chat and eat together.

How does the black pork belly taste?

And now the most important part — the meat! It's genuinely moist and chewy 🥹🥹. You can really feel that distinctive springy texture of black pork, and grilling over charcoal gave it a faint smoky aroma that made it even better. At first I tried it with just a light dip of salt to taste the meat itself, and it was plenty delicious on its own. Then I tried it with the side dishes, and with different accompaniments one at a time — each combination tasted different, so I kept eating more. Eating just meat can get greasy after a while, but having various accompaniments made it easy to switch things up along the way.

Barely any smoke smell on your clothes

And one more thing I personally loved! There's not much meat smell at all. Usually after leaving a BBQ place, your clothes are soaked in smoke and it's a hassle if you have other plans afterward — but here the grill isn't huge and the smoke seems to ventilate well, so surprisingly little smell clings to you. Normally even spraying deodorizer doesn't get rid of the smell for a long time after a BBQ meal, but at Jeju Monteurak Sunae you barely smell like you went to a BBQ place at all, which was so nice haha.

It's genuinely moist, and every single bite of Jeju Monteurak's pork belly feels precious. Adults love it, but kids seem to really enjoy it too since the meat is so tender.

Finishing with seafood doenjang stew and rice

And at the end, we finished with seafood doenjang stew (fermented soybean paste stew) and rice. You really need doenjang stew and rice after BBQ to wrap things up properly. The seafood doenjang stew was hot and savory, and pairing a spoonful with the meat worked so well. Even though I was already quite full, I ended up finishing the rice too. It was packed with seafood, which was satisfying!!!! Eating meat and then the stew made for a really solid, filling meal.

Overall, the meat was great, having staff grill it for us was convenient, and the spacious dining room made it good for group visits.
