Jeongja-dong bar for couple drinks: tteokjjim, shrimp at Bacha Jeongja

In short

Bacha Jeongja is a Korean-style bar (yojujeom) with open-terrace seating in the Jeongja-dong restaurant alley near Jeongja Station, Seongnam, Gyeonggi. On a September weekend evening, a couple shared spicy seafood tteokjjim (rice cake stew) with beef brisket for ₩29,000, rochi shrimp for ₩25,000, and a lime mojito highball for ₩10,000. The spicy seafood tteokjjim and sweet rose tteokbokki-style shrimp paired well, and the portion was plenty for two.

Bacha Jeongja is a bar near Jeongja Station where you can enjoy that Bundang open-terrace drinking spot vibe even in the middle of busy modern life. Great as a first stop or a second round near Jeongja Station. My last visit was so satisfying that I came back with my boyfriend on a weekend evening in early September, when the autumn breeze had just started blowing, for a couple's round of drinks.

Saturday evening atmosphere and the menu lineup

Since it's a bar near Jeongja Station, the interior was still relaxed at 6pm on Saturday. But being popular as a second-round spot, it was nearly full by the time our food was ready. Rooms require reservation.

Bacha seafood jjim, red seafood gambas, pork belly with bok choy stir-fry, beef brisket and tendon hot pot, sous-vide pork neck with chives, abalone oil/mentaiko cream pasta, jamón with melon, cheese-and-dried-persimmon platter, hotteok ice cream, beef brisket with mung bean sprout stir-fry, mala beef brisket jjamppong soup, wing-bong combo, onion boneless fried chicken, crispy dried pollack, and unique drinks like Jim Beam/Jameson/yuzu highballs and matcha moment. Leave a Naver review and they'll give you one of a mini watermelon punch, blueberry yogurt, cocktail, or magpie pear highball on the house.

The default side snack at Bacha, a Bundang open-terrace bar, is salty pretzel crackers. We sat at a table beside the open terrace with a fresh autumn breeze blowing through — the warm chadol (beef brisket) seafood tteokjjim and seafood jjim were perfect with a drink in hand ✨️. Since it simmers right at the table you can enjoy it hot from start to finish, but there's a lot of ramyeon noodles packed at the bottom, so stir it slowly so it doesn't burn.

✔️ Chadol seafood tteokjjim ₩29,000 The ramyeon noodles come already fully cooked, so once it started to boil I scooped those out first — the seafood broth base with mung bean sprouts, sliced green onion, and beef brisket was a flawless combination. The noodles alone made the portion generous, so it was plenty for two adults to share.

The seafood dishes were fresh, sourced directly from the coast. The scallops were plump and well-cleaned, giving off that fresh Soraepogo seafood market vibe out of nowhere. Scallops, whole squid, beef brisket, and plenty of noodles fill this seafood tteokjjim at Bacha, a bar near Jeongja Station.

Rochi shrimp paired with a lime mojito highball

✔️ Rochi shrimp ₩25,000, mojito highball ₩10,000 While we were still slowly working through the seafood tteokjjim, the second dish, rochi shrimp, arrived — a rose tteokbokki (spicy-sweet rice cake) base topped with bacon, plump shrimp, and onion-cream boneless fried chicken, a dish women tend to universally love. Since the seafood tteokjjim was spicy, the sweeter rochi shrimp paired quite well with it.

My boyfriend isn't much of a drinker either, so we just ordered one lime mojito highball from Bacha and shared it — it had a nice way of cleaning up the spice in your mouth.

Rose tteokbokki, which I honestly hadn't had since the Covid days. The sweetness of the cabbage, the plump shrimp, and the salty onion-cream boneless fried chicken all came together — I was stuffed full after only finishing half.
