Tablet-order Vietnamese restaurant in Yeongtong, Suwon: Madam Hao
In short
Madam Hao is a Vietnamese restaurant run by a Vietnamese couple near Ajou University in Yeongtong-gu, Suwon. Ordering from the table tablet brought beef brisket pho at 11,000 won, pad thai at 12,000 won, and two northern-style summer rolls at 4,000 won, served with shrimp chips and side dishes. The broth at Madam Hao is mild rather than sharp and the pad thai is deeply savory, so even diners wary of strong spices can eat comfortably.

I was suddenly craving pho, so I went to 'Madam Hao' in Yeongtong-gu, Suwon. It ended up being far more satisfying than I expected, so let me introduce this pho spot, 'Madam Hao'🫶 This Ajou-area pho restaurant is a great place to drop by when you're craving a mild, non-spicy soup — somewhere pretty much anyone could enjoy, no matter their taste~!

Inside Madam Hao: solo lunch or a date?
The moment I walked in, I felt it — a place with Vietnam vibes bursting from every corner💓 It felt comfortable enough for solo dining, but I also thought it'd work great for meeting a friend or a date haha. It passes easily as a family dinner spot too. There were quite a few Vietnamese customers around, and it turns out the place is run by a Vietnamese couple? If you want to feel authentic Vietnamese food, this is the place👏

Ordering by table tablet at Madam Hao: what we picked
Madam Hao has a tablet at every table for ordering, which made it easy to take our time browsing the menu. 👇After much deliberation, here's what we ordered👇
- PHO NAM (beef brisket pho) ₩11,000
- Pad Thai ₩12,000
- GOI CUON BAC BO (northern-style summer rolls, 2pc) ₩4,000

Each table comes with sauces already set out

Crispy shrimp chips and side dishes to go with them came out

And finally, the full spread arrives

Beef brisket pho, 11,000 won: how is the broth?
Let's start with the pho I love. The moment I took a spoonful of Madam Hao's beef brisket pho broth, a genuine "wow,,,😮" escaped me — a mild, non-spicy broth topped generously with tender brisket. It felt deep and rich yet clean at the same time.
It's piled high with beef toppings, plus a generous amount of bean sprouts and noodles, so overall it's a pretty filling bowl. A menu item that works great for lunch too. Even people who aren't big on spices looked like they could eat this comfortably~!

Pad thai, 12,000 won: mix it in or eat it separately?
The pad thai I was most looking forward to at Madam Hao. It looked delicious so I picked it🤤
They squeeze a little lemon on top, and I mixed everything together with the toppings, but a Vietnamese guest at another table ate everything separately?... Not sure which way is 'correct,' but either way it's just plain good. A pad thai with a savory, salty umami that's honestly unreal.

Loaded with seafood, and the seasoning wasn't too salty at all — hit the spot perfectly,, a flavor any Korean would love👍 The chewy texture also had me eating in awe.

Northern-style summer rolls, 2 for 4,000 won
My first taste of northern-style summer rolls, 2 pieces for ₩4,000. A slight hint of spice, and a healthy kind of flavor? A pairing that can't fail alongside the pho🩷 Eating all three menu items together — the pho, pad thai, and summer rolls — let me experience Vietnamese food through three different charms at once.

Is Madam Hao worth a second visit?
'Madam Hao' nails both food quality and atmosphere. It's a pho spot near Ajou worth visiting at least once, and I'd love to go back and try more of the menu.
Beyond the delicious food, it brought back memories of traveling in Vietnam, which made the meal even more special😋 If you're looking for an Ajou-area lunch spot, an Ajou-area pho spot, or even an Ajou-area drinking spot🩷 I highly, highly recommend Madam Hao🩷
