I finished up work in Suwon and it was already around 5:30. While I was deciding what to eat, my friend suggested Gyewondang. I guess the last visit left a real impression on them haha — I'd been wanting to go back too, so we headed straight to Gyewondang Ingye Branch.

When we arrived, the first thing that caught my eye was the quirky, antique exterior. Even the standee sign out front felt like it was saying "welcome!" haha

Photos of the menu lined the front, and being hungry, I honestly wanted to try everything. If you're looking for pork cutlet near Suwon City Hall Station but want something a bit different, this place makes an impression from the outside alone.

Since it was still a bit early for dinner, the inside was quiet. The tables were spacious enough to fit several dishes comfortably, and the food posters on the wall were shot so well they made me even hungrier haha
What we ordered and the prices

- Gyewon Set — ₩17,500 (1.5 servings)
- Miso Crispy Steaki rice set — ₩13,000
Gyewondang specializes in handmade chicken cutlets made from chicken thigh meat. They say their method cuts down on grease while keeping things crispy, so I was looking forward to it again.
On top of that, the owner gave us a drink on the house! Thank you, sir, haha. Normally, adding ₩900 gets you unlimited refills of cola, cider, Fanta, and the like.
The Gyewon Set: a hearty spread of three cutlets

After a short wait, the food came out — not too fast, not too slow, right on time!

The Gyewon Set is a generous spread of three kinds of cutlets: Gyewon chicken cutlet, house pork loin cutlet, and fried chicken cutlet. It was great being able to try each style of cutlet cooked differently, all at once haha

The rice comes as egg fried rice, but you can swap it for a hot dog bun or black rice. We went with the egg fried rice — its nuttiness paired even better with the cutlets than plain rice would have.

We picked the seasoned sauce, but there was already sauce on top of the cutlets, so it was delicious even without dipping separately. The portion was huge — perfect for coming with kids. Among pork cutlet spots near Suwon City Hall Station, I liked being able to compare several types in one sitting.
How does the Miso Crispy Steaki rice set taste?
And personally, the dish that impressed me even more this time was the Miso Crispy Steaki rice set.

It comes out sizzling on a griddle. At first, hearing "miso," I expected a strong doenjang (fermented soybean paste) flavor. But one bite in — wow, so crispy! The outside was crunchy while the chicken inside stayed soft and juicy.
Bean sprouts and vegetables come alongside it, and the savory, salty seasoning paired nicely with the crunchy sprouts. If you're hunting for pork cutlet near Suwon City Hall Station but want something more unusual than a regular cutlet, I'd recommend this one.

It also comes with neat side dishes and rice, so it felt like a proper full spread — I was completely stuffed by the end haha
Which dish suits whom?

Comparing the two dishes directly, the Gyewon Set is great for anyone wanting a generous spread of multiple cutlets, while the Miso Crispy Steaki suits those who want to enjoy crispy chicken thigh and vegetables in a slightly different way.

It felt less like eating just a chicken cutlet and more like properly enjoying chicken done right! If you're after pork cutlet near Suwon City Hall Station with generous portions and something a bit different, this is the spot~!

Next time I'm definitely trying the gomtang (beef bone soup), sundubu (soft tofu stew), and the 88's hot dog bread that I missed this time haha
