Suwon Station pork belly with mini arcade games: Taejang Sikdang
In short
Taejang Sikdang Suwon Station Branch is a 1990s-themed retro pork belly restaurant on the Rodeo Street strip by Suwon Station in Gyeonggi. Arriving at 4pm meant no wait for a table, and the meal ran from 6mm fresh pork belly (14,000 won) and 4mm frozen pork belly (11,000 won) to cheese egg custard (4,000 won), with an extra portion of each and fried rice to finish. Hi, this is Cheese! Today I've got a Korean BBQ review from a Suwon Station restaurant I visited because I was craving meat so badly. I heard Taejang Sikdang, already famous for having waits at its Mangpo and Maetan-dong branches, opened a new location at Suwon Station, so I ran straight over. I really love cold-grilled pork belly, and this place hit my taste in both flavor and vibe, so I was happy the whole meal.

How to walk to Taejang Sikdang Suwon Station Branch
Taejang Sikdang Suwon Station Branch is a 4-minute walk from Suwon Station, on the 2nd floor of a building on Hyanggyo-ro 23. It's right in the middle of the Rodeo Street nightlife area, so it's an easy Suwon Station restaurant to swing by after hanging out. The blue-striped awning and blue sign caught my eye from far away.
Even the stairs up to the 2nd floor have the restaurant's name painted big in graffiti. Walking up, I already felt like this was going to be a fun place.
The glass door at the entrance is covered in stickers of pork belly and side dishes. The visuals alone made me hungry before I even opened the door.
Inside Taejang Sikdang: a 1992 grand-opening theme
This is the sign right as you walk in. It says the concept is a cold-grilled pork belly restaurant styled after a grand opening sometime between 1992 and 2002.
The interior really nails that old-school vibe, and I loved it. There's floral wallpaper, a daily tear-off calendar hanging on the wall, and flags reading "cold pork belly specialty" at every window. Even though I was a kid back then, the atmosphere felt so warm and nostalgic.

The restaurant is much bigger than it looks from outside. Toward the back there's a sign for a "station-front supermarket" and even a Seoul Milk fridge.
On the wall there are framed newspapers and a "Taejang News" clipping, plus a blue tube TV. The music was so upbeat, and since we came at 4pm, it felt great to just enjoy the vibe while eating.
Near the counter there's a neatly posted sign showing the origin of the ingredients. The place was clean and the staff were kind, which I appreciated.

Three mini arcade machines and old-school Korean snacks
On one side there are three mini arcade machines lined up. Beer crates topped with cushions as seats added to the whole retro feel.

It's the perfect spot to play a round while waiting for the meat. This kind of fun is exactly why I think this Suwon Station Korean BBQ restaurant will stick in my memory for a long time.

By the window there's a ball hanging in a net, plus stacks of old-school snacks like Choco Pie. Every little detail feels like an old stationery shop, so it was fun just to look around.
The dolls sitting on the shelf are so cute too. There's a crying face and a pouting face side by side — great for photos.
Side dishes and the 8 sauces on the table
Finally, the table setting. The side dishes — sliced scallions, bean sprouts, bracken, kimchi, and potato-corn salad — were all great.
They set up the grill and tongs and brought a chilled bottle of barley tea. Since the prices were reasonable too, I could eat without any worry about the bill.

It looks even more generous from above. Right in the middle they laid out eight different sauces, which surprised me the first time I saw it.

Taejang Sikdang menu and prices
We ordered via the tablet at the table. Cheese egg custard was ₩4,000, 6mm fresh pork belly was ₩14,000, and 4mm frozen pork belly was ₩11,000 — and it was all so good we ordered an extra portion of each. For two people, that's pretty good value even among Suwon Station restaurants.
- 6mm fresh pork belly ₩14,000
- 4mm frozen pork belly ₩11,000
- Cheese egg custard ₩4,000

A staff member brought the meat out already plated. The color was vivid and the marbling looked great, so my expectations shot up the moment I saw it.

4mm frozen pork belly with egg-yolk soy sauce
On the grill, the thin cuts cook fast. They grill the kimchi, bean sprouts, and bracken alongside the meat too, and honestly that combo was amazing.
My personal favorite is the egg-yolk soy sauce. Mix it up and dip the meat in it, and the savoriness doubles.

Just mixing the sauce well completely changes the flavor. The frozen pork belly was surprisingly delicious too.

I put a piece of meat with grilled kimchi on my small plate. The fat had rendered out nicely so it tasted light, and the kimchi turned slightly sweet.

I wrapped meat, kimchi, and bracken together in lettuce for a bite. Adding the bracken gave it a nice texture that made it even tastier.

This time I piled on a generous amount of sliced scallions. Once the tangy, spicy scallions go in, you can't stop eating.
I'd also recommend wrapping it in perilla leaves. The aroma really cuts through the richness.
Cheese egg custard for 4,000 won
Here's the cheese egg custard we ordered alongside the meat. It came out puffed up over the top of the stone pot, and the look alone was impressive.
Scoop it with a spoon and the inside is fluffy. The cheese is subtly mixed in, making it a perfect palate break in the middle of eating meat.

What is the 6mm fresh pork belly like?
The fresh pork belly was so good we ended up ordering a lot more. Watching the grill fill up completely was the happiest part of the whole meal.

The fresh pork belly is thick-cut, so the chew is noticeably different. There's no gamey smell at all, so it was delicious even dipped in just plain salt.

The combo with sliced scallions never gets old no matter how many times I eat it. Piling it up on my small plate like this is my favorite way to eat.

Adding bracken on top completes it. All the side dishes went so well with the meat that we finished everything without leaving a scrap.
Fried rice to finish the meal
Of course we finished with fried rice. They add rice to the leftover fat and kimchi and fry it right there on the grill.
They press it down flat with the spatula, and the smell at that point was insane.
Spreading it out and pressing the bottom down makes it crispy like scorched rice.

Once the seaweed flakes go on top, it's done. Even though I was already full, this one still went down easy.
Is there a wait if you arrive at 4pm?
We cleaned the whole table like this. That much food between two people was really filling. We went around 4pm and could sit down right away with no wait. Still, it's worth checking ahead before you go.
I heard they also have limited menu items like Korean beef yukhoe parfait, so I'm definitely trying that next time. If you're looking for a Suwon Station restaurant with a great vibe, generous side dishes, and delicious meat, this is the answer. I'm planning to go back with friends, and I'd strongly recommend Taejang Sikdang Suwon Station Branch to anyone deciding on where to eat near Suwon Station.
