Today, after shopping at IFC Mall, I went on a date to Modam Urban, which has such a lovely atmosphere. It’s a fusion Korean restaurant inside the mall, and with its modern feel and private rooms, it’s apparently also well known for formal family meetings 🍽️
Modam Urban, a Korean restaurant on L3 of Yeouido IFC Mall

Modam Urban is a Korean restaurant in the L3 dining area of IFC Mall near Yeouido Station.

Korean elements were naturally woven into the interior, giving it an upscale feel, while cute little details such as mother-of-pearl and pine-tree ornaments added charm too ✨

There were tables for two in the center of the dining room, while the left side had four-person seating with a slightly more private feel.

There are also private rooms to the right of the entrance, so it seems like a great choice for family gatherings of six or more, formal family meetings, and other group occasions.

A generous six appetizers before the mains

Once we ordered, a generous spread of six appetizers arrived before the mains. The mung bean porridge topped with black sesame had a mild flavor—an appetizer in the truest sense.

The salad sauce was incredibly good! It was a little different from the usual kind, with whole-grain yuzu sauce on top, and the dressing itself was so delicious.

It was my first time trying mushroom pyeonyuk (pressed sliced mushroom dish), and its chewy texture was so distinctive.

The mushroom gangjeong (crisp glazed bites) was even tastier than meat—I wanted to pack up just this and take it home!

There was also a chilled dish of smoked duck piled with fresh bell peppers.

For an appetizer, this perilla-oil capellini was wonderfully nutty and even came topped with sweet shrimp. Just like the mushroom gangjeong, I wanted to order this on its own.

While we were enjoying the appetizers, the mains and extra side dishes were set out: warm stir-fried kimchi and spicy, refreshing dongchimi (radish-water kimchi).
Assorted marinated seafood and gamtae butter rice

The assorted marinated seafood came with soybean-paste soup, gamtae butter rice, egg, octopus, soy-marinated shrimp, abalone, beef shank, and white wood ear mushrooms. I loved being able to try the marinated seafood one ingredient at a time, and above all, the soy-marinated shrimp… was truly delicious 🥹
Tender octopus pasta filled with crab meat

This is the octopus pasta I ordered!

I cut up the octopus leg on top,

and took a bite of the octopus first—it was unbelievably tender..! As it turned out, they had hollowed out the octopus leg and filled it with crab meat.
Finishing with milk pudding

When we were nearly done with the dishes, they brought out milk pudding. Ending with that for dessert made for such an elegant Korean-food date~ 😉

With such pretty colors, Modam Urban was fun to look at, and the many fusion dishes I’d never seen before made it just as fun to eat. If you’re looking for an atmospheric IFC Mall restaurant for a date or a Korean restaurant for a family gathering, I recommend giving Modam Urban a try 👍
