Hyeonseonine Tteokbokki, where I used to queue up to eat in Yongsan, has newly opened in Yeouido too, so I was curious and tried taking it home myself.

How to find Hyeonseonine at IFC Mall from Yeouido Station

On my way home today, I suddenly wanted instant tteokbokki so badly. I searched right away and found that Hyeonseonine Tteokbokki, which I had eaten in Yongsan, had newly opened at Yeouido IFC Mall too?! It was right on my route, and I was curious, so I decided to get takeaway immediately!

I went by subway. Get off at Yeouido Station and head toward Exit 3; you will see a moving walkway connecting to IFC Mall. Ride it and keep going straight to reach IFC Mall easily~

What came in the two-serving instant tteokbokki takeaway set

I ordered instant tteokbokki for two (₩22,000) plus one can of cola (₩2,000)! The takeaway set was pretty generous too. It included seasoning sauce and spicy chili powder, fish cake pouches and broth, cabbage and green onion, wheat rice cakes and fish cakes, four yaki mandu (fried dumplings), two eggs, and one pack of ramen noodles. Quite a packed set for two servings, right?!

They also include a sheet with cooking instructions, so it is easy to make at home!

Once the rice cakes puff up, lower the heat and simmer for two more minutes.

How the medium-spicy version tasted at home

Ta-da~~ Doesn’t it look so delicious? I chose the medium level out of mild, medium, and spicy. I cannot even handle the beginner level at Yeopgi Tteokbokki very well, but Hyeonseonine Tteokbokki’s medium spice was just deliciously spicy for me!

The eggs were jumbo-sized, so they were quite large, and the yaki mandu were generously filled too~ More than anything, the broth was nicely reduced, the rice cakes were chewy, and the seasoning had soaked into them well, so it was so good.

I also liked the fish cakes. At places that use cheap fish cakes, you can sometimes really notice that distinctive floury dryness or smell, but these fish cakes themselves had a chewy, bouncy texture, which was great.

Another thing I liked was how generous the portion was! I took away a two-serving set, but after actually eating it, it felt like enough to fill up three people~ Like me, if you want to enjoy instant tteokbokki comfortably at home, this seems like a good one to take home and cook.

I was happy to be able to have Hyeonseonine Tteokbokki, which I had eaten in Yongsan, in Yeouido too, and I was satisfied overall with the chewy rice cakes, nicely reduced seasoning, and generous basic set. Especially if you are looking for lunch or a quick meal at Yeouido IFC Mall, I would recommend stopping by at least once!
