Snow crab set for two, 130,000 won at Jukdo Market, Pohang
In short
Yeonggwang Hoe Daegae Center is a crab and sashimi restaurant tucked inside Jukdo Market in Pohang, Gyeongbuk. The 130,000 won Bakdal Special set for two came with steamed snow crab, assorted sashimi, mulhoe (cold raw fish soup), horaegi sukhoe (blanched bay squid), abalone, and crab ramyeon — so much food the final spicy stew had to be skipped. If you want to eat crab and seafood until you're stuffed, portion size is not a worry here.

Crab was one of the dishes I really wanted to try on my Pohang trip. There are so many crab restaurants in Jukdo Market that I spent a while figuring out where to go, and this time I ended up at Yeonggwang Hoe Daegae Center, a well-known spot in the market.

I'd heard it was featured on SBS's 'Master in the House' (생활의 달인), so I was curious. Walking in, the first thing that caught my eye was the crab — much bigger than I expected — and a table absolutely packed with food.

Where in Jukdo Market is it?
Yeonggwang Hoe Daegae Center sits past the dried seafood alley, deeper inside Jukdo Market.

Big photos of crab and sashimi are plastered at the front, so it wasn't hard to find, and the tanks were full of live crab, shrimp, and fish.

Being able to see the tanks yourself before ordering gave a real sense of choosing fresh seafood.

What's in the Bakdal Special set for two — ₩130,000
Bakdal Special set for two: ₩130,000. Built around bakdal snow crab, it comes with mulhoe, assorted sashimi, crab ramyeon, and a spicy stew, so you get to taste crab plus sashimi and other seafood all in one meal.
While waiting for the food, I was a little surprised by the basic side dishes alone.

From peanuts, garlic, and chili to conch, sea squirt, pufferfish skin, live octopus, mulhoe, sashimi wrap vegetables, horaegi sukhoe, and corn cheese — the table filled up fast.

We came for crab, but it felt like a whole seafood spread was laid out from the start, which made for a lot of fun tasting everything.

What I especially liked about this kind of set is that it's not just a crab meal — you get to enjoy small portions of lots of different seafood together.
The bakdal crab was much bigger than expected

Then the star of the show, the bakdal crab, arrived — seeing it in person, its size really grabbed my attention.
The crab legs were thick and packed with meat, so it was fun picking each one apart.
You can see the size, haha. And so much meat! The crab meat had that subtle sweetness crab is known for, and dipping it in wasabi soy sauce or the green sauce brought out a different flavor each time.
Crab really does taste best when you pick the meat out with your own hands.

By the time I'd worked through leg after leg, I noticed I was completely absorbed in eating. 😆
Shrimp and clams also came along, and the clams were surprisingly sweet.
🐟 A solid lineup of sashimi and mulhoe too
It wasn't just the crab that impressed — the sashimi lineup was more substantial than I expected.

The white fish sashimi was sliced thick with a satisfying chew, and the tangy-sweet mulhoe was great for pairing bite by bite with the crab.
The chewy horaegi sukhoe dipped in chogochujang (vinegared chili paste) would also make a great drinking snack, and a whole abalone was served too, so we got to enjoy a wide range of seafood beyond just crab and sashimi.
Why we couldn't finish the spicy stew
What stuck with me most from this meal, honestly, was just how much food there was. Even before the crab arrived, we'd already had a whole spread of basic side dishes and seafood, and by the time we'd eaten the crab, sashimi, and mulhoe on top of that, the two of us were already completely full.
At first I planned to finish with the spicy stew at the end, but instead we ended with crab ramyeon — haha. Since it came after eating the crab, the broth had that deep crab flavor soaked in, and it was delicious.
After the crab ramyeon, both of us were absolutely stuffed. The owner mentioned the spicy stew was still to come, but we were so full we told them not to bother.
It wasn't that the food ran short — quite the opposite, there was so much that we couldn't even get through the last dish. So for anyone worried the portions might be too small, this set should feel more than generous.
In short
Overall, Yeonggwang Hoe Daegae Center stuck in my memory as a place to enjoy big, hearty bakdal crab alongside a wide variety of seafood, all in one sitting.

Along with crab, dishes like assorted sashimi, mulhoe, abalone, and live octopus all came out together, so we got to have a proper full meal. Even though it was a set for two, the food kept coming, so much that we were too full for the last dish. 😂
If you want to eat crab and sashimi together in a hearty way at Pohang's Jukdo Market, or if you want to try a wide variety of seafood at once, this place is worth a visit.
I left this meal really stuffed, and it's the kind of place I'll think of whenever I'm craving crab in Pohang. Officially recognized as a Jukdo Market crab spot in Pohang — haha.
