Pohang ocean-view Italian restaurant: Plan A Restaurant
In short
Plan A Restaurant is an ocean-view Italian restaurant on the fourth floor near Songdo Beach in Pohang, Gyeongbuk. A friend and I shared a burrata salad, shrimp broth spaghetti, mushroom basil cream risotto, and Korean beef ribeye steak; the spaghetti and steak stood out, though we missed out on a window seat without a reservation.

It had been a while since I last visited Plan A Restaurant (플랜에이레스토랑) in Pohang’s Songdo area. I had usually come with a larger group before, but this time a friend and I came to eat while looking out at the sea.

Where is Plan A Restaurant in Pohang?
It is on the fourth floor of the building at 1189 Huimang-daero, near Songdo Beach. There is a public parking lot nearby, and it is also well located for a beach walk after your meal.

Can you see the sea without a window seat?
As soon as I walked in, the wide expanse of sea off Songdo caught my eye. The interior felt modern yet warm, and the staff were kind.

We visited without a reservation, so we could not sit by the window. I had wanted to eat with the sea close by, so that was disappointing.

Still, we could see the sea from our side table. The unobstructed view made for a relaxed meal, and I thought it would also be nice for a date or family gathering.

What did we order, and how much was it?
Along with pasta, there were salads, steaks, and risotto. They also had wine, coffee, and desserts. We ordered one each of a salad, pasta, risotto, and steak.

How was the burrata cheese salad to start?
The burrata cheese salad was ₩14,000. It had a generous amount of cheese and was refreshing, making it a good choice before the meal.
What did I like about the shrimp broth spaghetti?
The shrimp broth spaghetti was ₩16,000. The noodles were springy and the sauce had a deep flavor, making it one of the dishes that suited my taste especially well that day.

The shrimp were plump and chewy, too. Since it is a pasta with broth, I thought of it as something I might crave when I need a hangover meal.

How did the mushroom basil cream risotto taste?
The mushroom basil cream risotto was ₩15,000.

It was creamy, with plenty of basil flavor. I usually like basil, so I enjoyed it, and it paired well with alternating bites of the shrimp broth spaghetti.

Was the Korean beef ribeye steak satisfying?
The Korean beef ribeye steak, which arrived last, was ₩49,000 for 300g.

I think we chose medium rare. I liked the doneness we chose, and it was a dish I would remember when I wanted steak again.

How did it feel to share four dishes between two?
I thought it might be a lot for two people. Still, since we had come out to eat by the sea for the first time in a while, we ordered a variety of dishes we wanted to try.

In the past, I had usually come with four or five people, ordering one of several dishes to share. I had enjoyed that experience, so this time I tried a range of dishes from salad to steak as well.

With several plates of food on the table, I did not notice the pickles until later.

In the end, we finished everything we ordered. Alternating between the shrimp broth spaghetti and basil risotto, then sharing the steak, let us enjoy several different flavors.

I was still disappointed not to get a window seat, but I enjoyed the time eating by the sea with my friend. I especially liked the steak, and I would like to come back with my family next time.
