My husband and I went for seasoned pork ribs in Jangyu. This time we visited Baengnyeon Galbi Jangyu, a pork rib specialist in Gimhae with a generous set menu and easy parking.

Location and parking at Baengnyeon Galbi Jangyu
Baengnyeon Galbi Jangyu was easy to find, located near Jangyu Daecheong Catholic Church and across from Sinjangyu Ildong Mirage Apartments.

There was plenty of parking in front of the building, so it was convenient to visit by car. After eating, you register your car at the counter, and you have to press the user button all the way down for the parking lot gate to open.
It's also close to Daecheongcheon stream, so it's a nice spot for a light walk after the meal.
Spacious interior and group room

The restaurant has high ceilings and generous space between tables. There's a good mix of sofa seating and round tables.

In the back, there's a group room with long tables, which looked great for a Jangyu, Gimhae company dinner or family gathering.
A large screen was playing old KBS Gayo Top 10 clips. Hearing familiar old songs, my husband and I ended up humming along as we ate.

There's a handwashing area and a free coffee machine near the entrance. Since seasoned pork ribs are best eaten wrapped in lettuce, it was handy to wash up right before the meal.

It's also a Jangyu rib restaurant that was featured on KBS's 'Saeng Saeng Today: People and World' on March 10, 2023.

What's in the 2-3 person rib set

We ordered the 2-3 person rib set. It comes with 400g of seasoned king ribs, 400g of seasoned pork neck steak, and 2 pieces of seasoned beef ribs.

The portion was so generous for two of us that we couldn't order any side dishes like cold noodles or jjigae — we just added a bowl of rice.
Basic side dishes and self-serve bar

Since we'd made a reservation ahead of time, the basic side dishes — sliced onion in soy sauce, seasoned scallion salad, white kimchi, and wrap vegetables — were all neatly set out for us.

I'd never had the side dish of minced chili seasoning on perilla leaves before. The fragrant perilla leaves and subtly spicy seasoning went really well with the sweet pork ribs.
We grabbed extra gungchae (aster greens) and chili peppers from the self-serve bar. It was easy to get more of whatever we needed, and there were scissors and tongs as well as baby utensils available. The restaurant also had high chairs, making it a convenient spot for a family meal in Jangyu, Gimhae with kids. There was also a separate area next to the kitchen for making sotbap (pot rice).
The taste of seasoned pork ribs and seasoned beef ribs
We grilled the seasoned pork ribs and seasoned beef ribs first. The pork ribs weren't too salty and had a nice sweetness, capturing the distinctive flavor of seasoned pork ribs well.

Wrapping the grilled meat and white kimchi in a perilla leaf made for a clean bite, and it was also delicious piled high in lettuce and perilla leaves with scallion salad.

We cooked the meat around the rib bone thoroughly on the grill. There was also the fun of gnawing the well-seasoned meat right off the bone.

The seasoned beef ribs came as 2 pieces, and once grilled they were tender with no chewiness at all — they practically melted in your mouth.
Thick pork neck steak

Last, we grilled the pork neck steak. It looked thick even before cooking, and the seasoning was soaked all the way through — like the ultimate sweet-savory grilled dish.

Since it's seasoned meat, the grill plate tends to burn easily, but the staff kept an eye on it and swapped it out right away. They changed it about three times during our meal, so we could grill everything cleanly to the end.
Free tteokbokki, seonjiguk, and corn cheese
The first spread comes with a complimentary hot pot of tteokbokki (stir-fried rice cakes), beef seonjiguk (ox blood soup), and corn cheese. The seonjiguk alone was hearty enough to finish a whole bowl of rice with, but I had it alongside the meat instead.

I never would have thought to wrap seasoned meat with corn cheese, but the combination was so good — the savory cheese and sweet meat went together perfectly, and I found myself wondering who came up with it.
4-6pm drink deal

From 4pm to 6pm, soju and beer are each ₩2,500. We arrived around 6pm and were a little puzzled to see a group already mid-meal — but once we saw the promotion, it made sense why they'd started their gathering early.
Final thoughts
We had a satisfying meal of sweet pork ribs, tender beef ribs, and thick pork neck steak. With its spacious parking lot and group room, this is a solid recommendation for anyone looking for a good rib restaurant in Jangyu or a family meal spot in Gimhae.
