Family breakfast at a Gimhae Korean restaurant: Ppyeodae Itneun
In short
Ppyeodae Itneun Haejangguk Gamjatang Yulha Branch is a Korean restaurant in Yulha, Gimhae, serving haejangguk (Korean hangover soup) from 8 a.m. My family ordered two Ppyeodae Itneun Haejangguk and one sundae-ugeoji haejangguk, with plenty of meat on the bones, leafy greens, and post-meal slushies. A solid pick for breakfast or a hearty family meal.

Today, I’m introducing Ppyeodae Itneun Haejangguk Gamjatang Yulha Branch (뼈대있는해장국감자탕 율하점), where I had a hearty meal with my family around Yulha in Gimhae haha. I absolutely love haejangguk and eat it often, so I’m pretty picky about any meat smell and the broth 🤭 But this place was so delicious that it would be great for everyone, from parents to children!!!
A good Yulha 7-ro location for breakfast
The restaurant is on Yulha 7-ro, and the building stands out, so it wasn’t difficult to find. A large sign at the entrance says it opens from 8 a.m., which made me think it would be nice for breakfast too.

The exterior had a neat, unmistakably Korean-restaurant feel, and the large sign made it easy to spot from a distance. It was also fairly convenient to park and head inside, so it looked like a good place for a family meal.

A spacious, tidy dining room and self-service add-in bar
Once inside, I liked that the restaurant was more spacious than I expected haha. The tables were comfortably spaced apart, and everything was neatly arranged. Long lights ran across the ceiling, making the space feel bright and clean, while one wall was finished in warm wood tones.
There were food photos and menu-related decorations around the walls, which were fun to look at too. With plenty of tables, it looked suitable for anything from dining alone to a family meal or a larger group.
There was especially an unlimited add-in self-service bar on one side. When you’re eating gamjatang (pork bone stew) or haejangguk, you sometimes want extra add-ins, so I loved being able to help myself to as much as I needed!!

Ordering Ppyeodae Itneun Haejangguk and sundae-ugeoji haejangguk
That day, we ordered two Ppyeodae Itneun Haejangguk and one sundae-ugeoji haejangguk.

As soon as we sat down, the basic side dishes were set out. There was kimchi, kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), chili peppers, radish, and a dipping sauce that went nicely with the haejangguk. The must-have kimchi and kkakdugi for a haejangguk restaurant were all ready to enjoy with the hot broth. Crisp kkakdugi really is perfect with a soup dish!

Meaty bones and a spicy ugeoji broth
Ta-da! The Ppyeodae Itneun Haejangguk looked incredible, right? 🥹 When I lifted a bone with my chopsticks, there was quite a lot of meat attached to it!! You can pull off the meat and put it back into the broth, or eat the meat first and then enjoy the ugeoji (dried napa cabbage greens), broth, and rice together.
The broth was hot and pleasantly spicy, perfectly suited to the name haejangguk. It was generously filled with ugeoji, and it tasted even better the more I had it with the broth.

If you like sundae, try the sundae-ugeoji haejangguk
The sundae-ugeoji haejangguk contains sundae (Korean blood sausage) and ugeoji, so it had a different appeal from regular haejangguk. haha If you like sundae, I think it would be worth ordering at least once.

Even post-meal slushies
And there was one more fun discovery after we finished eating! Complimentary slushies were set up on one side of the restaurant. There were orange and grape slushies, and it was nice to have a cool cup after the meal. After the hot haejangguk, cleansing my palate with a cold slushie felt like a proper finishing touch.
Overall, Ppyeodae Itneun Haejangguk Gamjatang Yulha Branch had a spacious, tidy dining room and served a filling haejangguk loaded with bones and ugeoji. It would be a good place to visit when you’re craving hot broth with plenty of meat, or looking for somewhere to have a hearty family meal. Next time, I’d like to try the gamjatang or some of the other menu items too 😊
