Gopchang hot pot for two, eaten dry-style: Miracle Yang Gopchang

In short

Miracle Yang Gopchang is a charcoal-grilled beef intestine restaurant near the Yulha café street in Gimhae, Gyeongnam. Visiting for dinner with a friend, the writer ordered a two-person gopchang (small intestine) and daechang (large intestine) hot pot with ramen noodles and fried rice, and following the owner's tip to skip extra broth and cook it dry-style, the noodles soaked up all the flavor beautifully. A great Gimhae gopchang spot for enjoying two different textures side by side, finished off with fried rice.

This time I'm sharing a place I went to when I was craving gopchang (grilled beef intestine) while in Gimhae — the quality here was so good I had to write about it. It's a Gimhae gopchang restaurant called 'Miracle Yang Gopchang.'

When I got to the front of Miracle Yang Gopchang, the big retro sign really caught my eye. Even from the outside, it had that warm, comfortable vibe you'd expect from a gopchang specialty spot.

It felt like the kind of place with a lot of regulars, honestly?? I visited in the evening, and it seemed perfect for a drink or two! (Gopchang really is best eaten in the evening.)

Interior and seating

The inside was actually quite a bit bigger than it looked from outside. Overall it had a clean but relaxed atmosphere. You know how gopchang places can get a bit worrying with smell and smoke?

Spacious, clean interior of Miracle Yang Gopchang

Miracle Yang Gopchang has a solid ventilation system, so you can eat in a pretty comfortable environment — that felt like a real plus. It's mostly 4-person tables, so it works well for family dinners as well as gatherings with friends.

What we ordered for two

Our order 🍴

Menu board with hot pot prices at Miracle Yang Gopchang

Two servings of daechang+gopchang hot pot, hot pot fried rice, and ramen noodles. That's what we ordered for two 🍴🩷

Side dishes served alongside the hot pot
Stir-fried fish cake and seasoned dried squid side dishes
Braised eggplant side dish
Honey-glazed cherry tomato side dish

The side dishes

The side dishes were stir-fried fish cake, seasoned dried squid, braised eggplant, and honey-glazed cherry tomatoes. There weren't a ton of side dishes, but I liked that they kept it clean and just served exactly what was needed.

Close-up of peeled, honey-glazed cherry tomatoes
Picking up a sweet and tangy cherry tomato

The tomatoes had the outer skin peeled off, so they were soft, and being honey-glazed made them sweet and tangy — eating them in between bites really cleaned up my palate. Such a nice little treat 🧡

How was the daechang+gopchang hot pot?

Pot packed full of gopchang and daechang

The pot was absolutely packed with gopchang and daechang — is this even real? They really didn't hold back on the portions... seriously 🧡 As it bubbled away, the nutty flavor of the gopchang and daechang came through, and the broth was spicy and refreshing at the same time.

Spicy gopchang hot pot bubbling away
A plump piece of daechang (large intestine)

The daechang in particular was plump and fleshy, unlike the gopchang, so it had an even richer, nuttier flavor.

Comparing chewy gopchang and soft daechang

Since gopchang and daechang have such different textures, it was fun eating them back and forth 😋 Gopchang is chewy, with more nutty flavor coming through the more you chew, while daechang is soft, melts in your mouth, and feels lighter and cleaner.

Ramen noodles cooked dry-style — the owner's tip

We added ramen noodles too, and I was going to add extra broth because I thought there might not be enough liquid, but the owner told us it's tastier to eat it a bit dry-style, since the broth soaks into the noodles better that way — so I trusted him and skipped the extra broth.

Lifting up broth-soaked ramen noodles
A rich, flavorful bite of ramen noodles

The broth really soaked into the noodles properly, and the flavor was so much richer for it? I was glad I listened to the owner. If you're ordering the hot pot, I'd definitely recommend adding ramen noodles to it 💕

Finishing with hot pot fried rice

You've got to finish with fried rice, right?? Mixing rice into the leftover daechang and gopchang hot pot and frying it up — man, there's nothing quite like it 👍 Thanks to the daechang and gopchang, we got that nutty flavor plus the slightly crispy bits at the bottom — such a satisfying way to end the meal.
