Friday dinner waiting and rosé pasta at Dana Dongseong-ro, Daegu

In short

Dana Dongseong-ro Main Branch is a Western restaurant on the 2nd floor of an alley in Dongseong-ro near Banwoldang Station in Jung-gu, Daegu. Visiting just after 6pm on a Friday, the writer had fresh rosé pasta for 12,500 won, beef flap steak for 27,000 won, and a half-and-half pizza for 19,000 won, with a waiting line forming soon after arrival. The rosé and tomato-based pizza had no greasiness, so the whole meal was finished without leftovers, and a return visit is planned.

To celebrate a Friday night, my boyfriend and I headed to a Western restaurant in Dongseong-ro that I hadn't visited in a while. Here's my honest review ☺️

Just a short walk into the alley, Dana's clean exterior on the 2nd floor was easy to spot!

There's a menu board and hours posted right at the entrance. Let's head inside.

Right as you walk in, there are 3 four-person tables

and the counter and semi-open kitchen made the place feel even more trustworthy.

There's also a wine cellar right next to it, so it looked like a great spot for a nice glass of wine too. We headed up to the 3rd floor!

There were even more tables on the 3rd floor. If there's no room on the 2nd floor, you can just head upstairs. And if that's full too, there's a waiting area near the 2nd floor entrance.

How was the Friday evening wait?

When I arrived just after 6pm on a Friday, the place was almost full. After that, a waiting line started to form. If you make a reservation ahead of time, you'll probably be able to eat quickly without waiting!

Let's take a proper look at the menu.

What we ordered and the prices

  • Fresh rosé pasta ₩12,500
  • Beef flap steak ₩27,000 (with balsamic-dressed green salad)
  • Half & half pizza ₩19,000 (Margherita pizza + bacon mushroom pizza)

It finally arrived!!

The visuals were insane!! Mouth-watering quality just to look at. The price was so reasonable too, and I couldn't wait to taste it.

Taste review

Beef flap steak (₩27,000)

It came cooked medium — apparently all the meat comes out that way. Medium is my favorite doneness, so it was perfect for me! I heard the flap steak is first cooked sous vide at a low temperature, then finished in butter, and maybe that's why it was so tender and had such great texture!

It came with a variety of accompaniments — steak sauce, whole grain mustard, wasabi, mashed potatoes — so you can add whatever suits your taste and it's so delicious! I actually went to Europe not long ago, and honestly this steak was better than the ones I had there lol

Fresh rosé pasta (₩12,500)

This dish surprised me twice — once at the price, once at the taste. Pasta in the ten-thousand-won range with today's prices!! I went with my boyfriend, who's not a fan of anything greasy, so I was a bit worried, but this pasta wasn't greasy at all — it had a clean, light rosé flavor, and we both ate it up in amazement!

Half & half pizza (₩19,000)

We split it into Margherita pizza and bacon mushroom pizza. All of Dana's pizzas use "tomato sauce simmered for a long time and 100% natural mozzarella cheese." Maybe that's why, unlike other pizzas, being tomato-based made it feel less greasy, and the cheese had a lively chewiness.

My boyfriend and I both love pizza and have tried all sorts, from famous franchise pizzas onward, but this place was good enough to rank in my top 2!

  • Margherita: fresh mozzarella + basil pesto + mozzarella cheese — the ultimate cheese pizza 👍
  • Bacon mushroom: the combination of bacon and mushroom, with the salty bacon and mushroom together, was so delicious

My boyfriend usually leaves leftovers when Western food is too greasy, but this was so good we cleaned every plate together.

Would I return, and final thoughts

Would I return: yes!!

  • If you're looking for good restaurants in Dongseong-ro, pasta in Dongseong-ro, Western food in Dongseong-ro, recommended Western restaurants in Daegu, or a date spot in Dongseong-ro, I highly recommend this place!!
  • Great value for the food — pasta in the ten-thousand-won range made with homemade tomato sauce and 100% natural mozzarella pizza, so it's less greasy with chewy, soft cheese that really shines. Even the premium flap steak was excellent. Personally, I'd call this Daegu's top-tier Western restaurant.
  • They also serve wine, draft beer, and other drinks, so the atmosphere is great — perfect for a date, a gathering with friends, or a family outing at a nicely atmospheric Western restaurant.
