Nampo in Gyodong, Daegu: grilled shellfish with outdoor yajang seating
Today I'm introducing Nampo, a grilled shellfish spot in Gyodong, Daegu. There's almost nowhere selling grilled shellfish around Gyodong or Samdeok-dong, so whenever I want grilled shellfish, I come to Nampo.
The location: you'll see the front entrance from the intersection at the entrance to Gyodong, and behind it, toward the back entrance, there's a parking lot and outdoor seating. Pubs with parking are rare in Gyodong, but Nampo has its own private lot ✨✨ And best of all, there's outdoor seating too!! For all you yajang (outdoor tent-style seating) lovers!!!! The season of yajang has finally arrived..♡‧₊˚

This is the front entrance. If you're parking, you need to go around back.

What the dining room is like, and how to book a yajang table
Even though it's a grilled shellfish place, the interior is clean and modern, so it'd work well for a date spot too. It was darker and much bigger inside than I expected.
For reference, Nampo also accommodates group gatherings, and Naver reservations are available — I booked that way myself. Indoor seating has no headcount minimum, but outdoor seating is only reservable for groups of 5 or more.

(This photo is from my previous visit) The private parking lot and outdoor seating. Last time I sat outside and it had this pojangmacha (street-food tent) vibe going on... honestly amazing, haha.
If you want to sit outside, I'd recommend going right when they open. I sadly ate indoors because it was too hot. Now that the weather's cooled down, I bet a lot more people are sitting outside.

They're also running a Naver receipt review event, so keep that in mind ✨ You get a mini abalone porridge for it.

Ordering the 59,000 won grilled shellfish set for 2–3
This is Nampo's menu. Besides grilled shellfish, they also have seasonal seafood menus. Right now it's raw shrimp season, so raw shrimp was on the menu.
There are also value sets, so if you come with 3–4 people you could try a bunch of different dishes, which seems even better haha. Since there were two of us, we ordered the grilled shellfish for 2–3.
For side dishes, they have abalone mulhoe (cold raw abalone soup, seasonal), abalone porridge, minari (water parsley) and shrimp pancake, fried squid, thin-sliced stir-fried pork, and more — good options if you run out of shellfish or get a little tired of it partway through.

- Soju, ₩5,500

From the free shellfish soup to the kalguksu noodle add-in
This is the basic spread: shellfish soup, tonkatsu, and corn mayo. The shellfish soup has not just shellfish but mushrooms, fish cake, and knife-cut noodles too. Honestly, you could drink a bottle of soju on this alone before the shellfish even hits the grill...

Grilled shellfish set for 2–3, ₩59,000. We didn't add extra cheese — this is how it comes standard, and apparently you can also order cheese topping separately. Abalone and shrimp come with it too, and they said they bring in the day's shellfish and seafood fresh every morning regardless of weekends or holidays. Maybe that's why it was so fresh.

A staff member sets everything up at the start and keeps checking in throughout.

And once you add the noodles into the shellfish soup that's been simmering, it basically becomes seafood knife-cut noodles... plenty for two as a drinking snack, and we really ate until we were stuffed.

And finally, dessert! The ice cream is genuinely delicious. Rich milk flavor.
Is Nampo's Gyodong shellfish grill worth it, inside or out?
Nampo is the place I go whenever I'm craving grilled shellfish, and now the outdoor seating is open too ✨✨✨ It's a spot that satisfies both people who want to eat grilled shellfish in a great outdoor atmosphere and people who want a comfortable indoor meal, haha.
The staff are friendly too, and I'd recommend Nampo, a grilled shellfish spot in Gyodong, Daegu, to anyone looking for a place for group gatherings or company dinners.
