Spicy shabu and free ice cream at a Sanbon BBQ spot: Geobugi Dongne

Today I'm introducing an insanely good value pork belly restaurant near Sanbon Station in Gunpo! It's easily one of the tastiest, most varied, and best value BBQ places I've been to recently — I'm definitely going back.

Where is Geobugi Dongne Gunpo Sanbon Branch? 3 minutes from Sanbon Station

Geobugi Dongne is near Sanbon Rodeo, just 3 minutes from Sanbon Station, so it was super easy to find. There's a ton of food around Sanbon, but this place has to be near the top among BBQ restaurants.

We got there early on a weekday evening, but the window seats were already full of people eating. Even on a Monday, a lot of people were out for meat.

Pork belly at 5,490 won per 100g, shabu-shabu for 6,000 won

Geobugi Dongne Gunpo Sanbon Branch has everything from set menus to à la carte, and they sell pork belly for a super cheap ₩5,490 per 100g — that's the main reason I recommend this place as the best value BBQ in Sanbon!! Isn't that incredibly cheap given today's prices?

And at Geobugi Dongne Sanbon Branch, you can grill pork belly and enjoy shabu-shabu at the same time. Seriously insane value!!! Shabu-shabu is only ₩6,000.

We debated and went with the shabu-shabu & pork belly set!! We ordered the shabu-shabu with spicy broth.

Before you order: the 5,000 won table fee and the self-serve side bar

At Geobugi Dongne you order via kiosk after sitting down, but here's the must-read part! There's a ₩5,000 table fee. Since the meat is priced so low, there's a table fee, and instead of side dishes being served automatically, you grab whatever sides you want from the self-serve bar!

Here's the self-serve bar! Wow, honestly it felt like I was at a buffet. Basic wraps like perilla leaves and lettuce were there, and there were so many different kinds of side dishes.

There were also plenty of side dishes and sauces great for wraps!! On one side there were ingredients like rice cakes and fish cakes to add to the shabu-shabu!

And here comes the meat! The pork belly & shabu-shabu set includes Korean beef slices along with pork belly! The combo we ordered let us grill pork belly while also enjoying spicy shabu-shabu at the same time. The Korean beef looked super fresh and the portion was really generous too.

And the set we ordered also included minari (water dropwort), assorted mushrooms, and knife-cut noodles!!!

First they grill the pork belly! Since it's so cheap I wasn't expecting much quality, but honestly, the meat quality at this Gunpo BBQ spot, Geobugi Dongne, was really good.

Look at that pork belly, everyone. Knife-scored, with saeu-jeot (salted shrimp) on the side — it looks so good, right? Pork belly like this for ₩5,490 per 100g? In this era of high prices, it's really the best T_T

Wrapping it up loaded with meat, bean sprouts, and ssamjang and eating it all in one bite was so, so good~~

Then when the pork belly started to feel a bit greasy, it was shabu-shabu time! Geobugi Dongne's spicy shabu is genuinely delicious. The broth isn't spicy-hot, has amazing savory depth, and completely cuts through the greasiness — loved it. We added the Korean beef too, wrapped it with the vegetables, and dipped it in the sauce.

The vegetables ran a little short so we ordered an extra portion~

After scooping out all the shabu-shabu vegetables and meat and dipping them in sauce, we added the knife-cut noodles. There was a generous amount of noodles too, great value for the price. And since the broth is so tasty, the noodles were honestly amazing.

Even my husband, who doesn't usually eat much noodles, finished it all saying it was so good, then topped it with kimchi for the perfect bite. We came to Geobugi Dongne for pork belly but ended up falling for the shabu-shabu!! Best value BBQ spot in Sanbon.

Free soft-serve ice cream at the end of the meal

And to finish, ice cream is a must! They even give you soft-serve ice cream for free T_T This ice cream is pure milk flavor!! It's similar to Sanha Ranch ice cream, giving it a rich, premium milk taste.
