Gukbap restaurant near Gamsam Station, Daegu: Mubokka naejang gukbap
In short
Mubokka Gukbap Gamsam Branch is a beef-bone broth gukbap (rice soup) restaurant near Gamsam Station in Dalseo, Daegu. After a walk at Seongdangmot pond, the writer came with her mother and son and each picked their own bowl — sundae gukbap, naejang gukbap and the Mubokka set meal — and the naejang gukbap was clean with no off-smell, while two plates of the geotjeori kimchi made fresh every morning were emptied. Mubokka Gukbap Gamsam Branch works just as easily for a family meal as for eating alone.

Today started early since I had to drop my daughter off at E-World to hang out with a friend. After that, the weather was way too nice to just head straight home — it's finally getting cool in the mornings and evenings these days.
So my mother, son and I went to exercise at Seongdangmot pond in Duryu Park. Walking in the cool breeze felt great, and after the workout we started getting hungry. Maybe because of the cooler weather, I found myself craving a hot bowl of gukbap. My son loves gukbap too, so we looked up a place nearby and ended up at Mubokka Gukbap Gamsam Branch.

Where is Mubokka Gukbap Gamsam Branch, and where do you park?
Mubokka Gukbap Gamsam Branch is at 192 Dangsan-ro, 1st floor, Dalseo-gu, Daegu, South Korea. We drove there — the parking lot is behind the building, and from what I saw it only fits about 4 cars, so it's not exactly spacious. They mentioned alley parking is also fine. Worth keeping in mind if you're driving.

The menu at Mubokka Gukbap: everyone picks their own bowl
Once we sat down and checked the menu, there were more types of gukbap than I expected — pork gukbap, sundae gukbap, naejang gukbap, mixed gukbap, spicy gukbap, and a set meal that comes with boiled pork and sundae.
There was so much I wanted to try — if it had been evening, boiled pork with a drink would've been perfect, but since it was lunch and we had to drive, we each just ordered what we wanted. My mother got sundae gukbap, I got naejang gukbap, and my meat-loving son picked the Mubokka set meal with boiled pork and broth.

Naejang gukbap: generous meat and a clean beef-bone broth
As soon as the gukbap arrived, I could tell the portions were pretty generous. But when I eat gukbap, there's something I care about more than portion size — the smell and the broth flavor!
Gukbap made with pork or organ meat can be tough to eat if there's even a hint of off-smell, but the naejang gukbap I had at Mubokka Gukbap Gamsam Branch had almost none of that. The broth was rich without being heavy — clean and light, which I liked.
The restaurant itself doesn't just push portion size — they emphasize that the broth tastes great too, and after eating it, I got why they say that. Mubokka Gukbap uses beef-bone broth and sells sundae, boiled pork, and several other menu items alongside the gukbap.
A spoonful of hot broth tasted even better after exercising at Seongdangmot that morning. If you're looking for a good gukbap restaurant near Gamsam Station and prefer a clean, light style over something thick and heavy, this place might be your kind of spot.

What comes with the Mubokka set meal
The star of the day was definitely my son, haha. The Mubokka set meal he ordered comes with boiled pork, 2 pieces of sundae (Korean blood sausage), and more — perfect for when just gukbap alone doesn't feel like enough. It comes with boiled pork belly, sundae, dried radish strips, and beef-bone broth.
Looking at the portion, I wondered if he could really finish it all... but he did, haha. He tackled a set meal hearty enough for an adult like it was nothing.
My son has always loved boiled pork, and dipping it lightly in salted shrimp sauce with a piece of kimchi on top made him even happier — he really enjoyed it. I tried the boiled pork too, and it was soft with no off-smell, easy to eat without any hesitation. The phone in the photo is his friend, ha.
The kimchi and kkakdugi at Mubokka Gukbap Gamsam Branch
There's something I quietly care a lot about at gukbap restaurants — the kimchi and kkakdugi (diced radish kimchi)! No matter how good the gukbap is, it's a letdown if the kimchi doesn't suit your taste.
But the kimchi at Mubokka Gukbap Gamsam Branch really matched my taste. When I asked the owner, they said they make fresh geotjeori (freshly seasoned cabbage) every single morning. That's probably why it wasn't overly sour — crunchy like just-mixed geotjeori, and it paired really well with the gukbap.

A spoonful of gukbap topped with kimchi, and I just kept going. We ended up finishing two whole plates of kimchi, haha. The kkakdugi also went great with the broth. Gukbap aside, I really think you should try the kimchi here too. They said they also sell whole cabbage kimchi by order, so if you're someone who buys kimchi, it might be worth ordering some here.

Eating alone or with family at Mubokka Gukbap
While we were eating, plenty of people came in alone for just a bowl of gukbap. Since the menu is mostly gukbap-focused, it seems like a comfortable, hearty option for a solo meal too.

On the other hand, it also worked well for us coming as a family with my mother and son, since everyone could pick their own gukbap or set meal. The three of us ordered three completely different things — sundae gukbap, naejang gukbap, and the Mubokka set meal.
Beyond gukbap, there are other options like spicy gukbap and galbi siraegi gukbap, so I'd like to try something different next time. I'm especially curious about the jjamppong sundubu gukbap — it looked spicy and delicious.
Restroom and free coffee at Mubokka Gukbap Gamsam Branch
One thing I always pay attention to at restaurants is how clean the restroom is. At Mubokka Gukbap Gamsam Branch, past the restroom door there's another door on the right that requires a passcode, and it was kept nice and clean, so it was comfortable to use.
After the meal, we even had a cup of coffee! Filling up on hot gukbap and finishing with a coffee felt just right. What stuck with me most about this visit was how kind the owner was — they kindly told us about the kimchi and looked after us throughout, so we left in a great mood.

Why gukbap tastes better after a walk at Seongdangmot
The morning started with dropping my daughter off at E-World. We walked around Seongdangmot with my mother and son, and craving hot gukbap in the cool weather led us here almost by chance — it turned out to be a more satisfying meal than expected. Seeing my son, who loves boiled pork, clean out a set meal big enough for an adult made me feel like we'd found a great spot. Nothing beats the good mood you get when kids eat well.

They gave us this to try as a sample — they're in a trial phase of switching the boiled pork to domestic front-leg pork, and it was so tender and soft. I'll have to come back once they officially switch to it, haha.
If you're exercising at Duryu Park or Seongdangmot and start craving a hot bowl of gukbap, or if you're just looking for a good gukbap restaurant near Gamsam Station, this is a solid spot to visit with family. Thanks for the meal! :)
