With the big swings in temperature lately, it felt like exactly the time to recharge with some nourishing food, so I went out for tender boiled lamb ribs 🖤 The lamb was cooked so well that the meat slipped right off the bone the moment it hit my mouth, and ending with a spicy, nutty soup made for a perfect course. This is Yangmadam Bangchon Lamb (양마담 방촌양고기), Bundang Direct Branch, a Jeongja Station lamb spot that completely delivered on value for money.

It is near Jeongja Station, so it is easy to get to, and the surrounding streets are tidy, making it especially convenient to walk over! Better still, it has free corkage, so it is ideal for bringing along your favorite wine or whisky for a get-together 🫶🏻 It is such a fitting course for a couple's date, an engagement-announcement gathering, or a team dinner at a good Bundang restaurant.

A calm, comfortable dining room

As soon as you walk in, the atmosphere feels calm and comfortable 🖤 The gentle, savory aroma of broth wafts through the room and immediately gets your mouth watering! I quickly settled in and gave the menu a thorough read.

The tables are nicely spaced and the restaurant is comfortable—just the kind of Bundang place that feels great for a team dinner ✨ It is the perfect setting for chatting away over delicious lamb and a drink! I visited on a weekday evening, and there were lots of tables of office workers having company dinners 👀

They also sell a range of alcoholic drinks! With the free-corkage benefit on top, this really is heaven for anyone looking for a free-corkage restaurant in Jeongja-dong, Bundang.

The sauces and two-person boiled lamb set

Six sauces and accompaniments arrived as standard: celtuce stem, roasted peanuts, herb cumin, wasabi mayo, boiled-lamb sauce, and barbecue sauce. The roasted peanuts were great for getting my appetite going ✨ And dipping the boiled lamb generously into the lamb sauce that came later? So good!!

Yangmadam Bangchon Lamb says it uses only young lamb from clean regions of Australia.

From boiled lamb ribs, barbecued lamb ribs, and grilled shoulder-rack lamb ribs to lamb hot pot made with 100% pure lamb broth, plus mala stir-fried clams made with fresh live clams delivered daily—the mains and sides were such a substantial lineup 👀 I ordered the two-person boiled lamb set, which includes fresh kimchi salad, boiled lamb, dumplings, and lamb hot pot.

The fresh kimchi salad came first! It was crisp, with sweet-and-tangy seasoning ✨ Great for waking up my appetite, and even better alongside the boiled lamb!

Kimchi and zero cola came too 👀 They thoughtfully provided a cup of ice, so I enjoyed it nice and cold 🤍

Boiled lamb ribs so tender they fall apart with chopsticks

This was the main set I chose that day! As soon as the two-person boiled lamb rib couple set was laid out on the table, my heart was already exploding at the neat, generous, great-value spread 🖤

The boiled lamb ribs were savory and fragrant. They arrived neatly arranged in a steamer, with warm steam rising up, and looked perfect from the start! When I picked up a piece to try, the meat was unbelievably tender 🤍 The lean meat separated softly from the bone even when my chopsticks barely touched it, then melted away as soon as it went into my mouth.

Some people may worry about a lamb smell, but there was none of that unpleasant gaminess—just lamb's distinctive, savory and fragrant flavor, in the nicest way 🖤

The sweet, tangy, crisp fresh kimchi salad that came with it was amazing with the boiled lamb ribs 🤍 It cut through all the richness and made the savory flavor pop, so I could not stop reaching for more.

Chives also went wonderfully with the boiled lamb ribs 🫶🏻

Tender, soft boiled lamb ribs 🤍 It was my very first time having boiled lamb ribs, and having them for the first time at Yangmadam made me completely fall for them.

The fried dumplings included in the couple set. TMI, I do not normally like dumplings, but these were reaaaaally delicious!

Finishing with spicy, savory hangover hot pot

I finished with the spicy, savory haejang jeongol (hangover hot pot) that naturally makes you want a bottle of soju 🫶🏻 After properly enjoying the boiled lamb, I moved on to the hot pot included in the set! The second I scooped up a spoonful of broth, I could not help saying, “Wow, this is seriously rich and deeply flavorful.” 🤍

Perhaps because it uses a 100% lamb-broth base, the soup was thick and rich, yet spicy and savory, with deep umami that felt like it coated me from the inside out! As the weather gets cooler, it is perfect for restoring your energy ✨
