Children's magic show in Suwon: Magic & Joy Gwanggyo

I booked a performance at Mirinae Magic Theater Magic & Joy Gwanggyo with my son, who likes magic shows. Instead of going outdoors that weekend, I wanted to see a performance our family could enjoy and take part in together.

Where is the theater, and what was parking like?

The theater is on the 10th floor of Galleria Department Store in Gwanggyo, on the same floor as CGV. When we arrived on the 10th floor, the Magic & Joy theater was right there; we picked up our tickets and went in.

We used the department store parking lot and received three hours of parking support. Parking was very congested, though, and the elevator up to the 10th floor was slow to arrive. Based on my experience, I recommend arriving about 30 minutes before the performance.

I booked through Naver Booking. At the time the original post was written, performances were listed for 2 PM and 4 PM on Saturdays and Sundays. Since it operates only on performance days, you need to check the Naver booking page for the schedule on your chosen date.

What ages would enjoy the show?

The show I saw felt well suited to preschoolers and younger elementary school children. It began with flower magic, and even as an adult, I was curious about what would happen next. Because it was a small theater, we could watch from close by, and the lively music throughout added to the atmosphere.

What kinds of magic were in the show?

During the show, there was also a quiz asking what magic trick had appeared first. Audience members who got the answer right received a gift, followed by ring magic.

In the balloon magic, a large inflated balloon did not pop even when it was pierced with a sword. My child and I watched in amazement.

Did children get chances to participate?

The magician kept talking with the children throughout the show. When they wondered whether the fish in the fishbowl magic were real, the magician walked around the audience so they could look closely.

Even though there were quite a few children, the magician went from the front rows to the back where I was seated, showing them to every child. My son even petted a bird himself and took a photo with it. For a child who may have been nervous about coming forward, the magician pointed out where their guardian was, suggested a pose, and helped with the photo.

On the day we attended, all the children received a small giveaway during the show. There were also small gifts for quiz winners, which added to the fun of participating.

What moment stood out most for the guardian?

Besides magic, there was also a shadow performance.

The part I enjoyed most was the final table magic. I was more excited watching that scene than my son was.

After the performance, many audience members lined up to take photos with the magician.

How was this weekend outing with my child?

When I asked my son what he liked, he said he liked that there were many different kinds of magic. What stayed with me was watching the performance from close by and seeing how the magician welcomed the children’s questions and reactions while helping them participate.

After the show, we could have snacks or a meal and shop in the same department store, which made planning a family outing easy. The three hours of parking support were helpful, but I would plan ahead for the parking-lot and elevator waits.
