Chuncheon sushi buffet with shrimp jang refills and parking: QooQoo
In short
QooQoo Chuncheon Branch is a 120-item sushi buffet on the basement level at 80 Jiseok-ro in Chuncheon, Gangwon. Stopping in for weekend lunch on the way to a campsite in Hwacheon, the writer worked through the sushi and roll counter, sashimi, shrimp jang (soy-marinated shrimp) and yangnyeom gejang (spicy marinated crab), the BBQ station and gelato, refilling the shrimp and crab several times. With 180 seats, a 52-seat group room, a playroom and 500 underground parking spaces, QooQoo Chuncheon Branch handles both family gatherings and a quick meal mid-road trip.

This is my review of a weekend lunch at QooQoo Chuncheon Branch.
On the way to a campsite in Hwacheon, we figured we should fill up in Chuncheon first, so we stopped at QooQoo! With 120 items from sushi to BBQ to dessert, we ate hearty before hitting the road. Let me run through everything we had ·͜·

What is the space like? 180 seats and a playroom
QooQoo Chuncheon Branch seats up to 180, with a 52-seat group room, so it looked more than capable of handling family gatherings or work dinners. There's a separate playroom, which seemed especially great for families with kids, and I spotted soldiers from a nearby army base eating there too, which made me weirdly happy haha.

What is on the QooQoo September menu?
The first thing that catches your eye at the buffet line is the sushi and roll counter!! Gimbap rolls, furikake rolls, egg rolls, tako wasabi gunkan, and bulgogi gunkan were all lined up by type on black slate, and the chefs were making them fast and continuously, so there was never any wait.

Since June, new menu items under a 'food party' theme have been added too — double cheese salmon roll, woo-samgyeop ssammu gunkan, and red snow crab yuba gunkan 🤤

Sashimi, shrimp jang and yangnyeom gejang (spicy marinated crab)
At the sashimi counter, salmon sashimi, octopus, conch, and shrimp were laid out fresh on ice, and next to them were shrimp jang (soy-marinated raw shrimp) and yangnyeom crab (spicy marinated raw crab). I got completely hooked on this section... I refilled the shrimp jang, shrimp sushi, and yangnyeom crab several times, and the shrimp jang was so fresh that even the heads were delicious. I put on gloves and dug in properly haha.
If there'd been plain white rice, I would've finished a whole bowl with just the shrimp jang and yangnyeom crab.

The QooQoo BBQ station
Having a BBQ counter at a sushi buffet is one of QooQoo's strengths. There are kebabs, lamb chops, LA-style short ribs, and chicken wingettes, plus several sauces like barbecue and wasabi.

There's also a full tray of shrimp that comes out, sized big enough that this alone could fill you up.
QooQoo fried food and dessert counters
On one side there's a full spread of crispy items — chicken, fried shrimp, croquettes, potato balls. There's also yakisoba and dak-gangjeong (crispy sweet-spicy fried chicken) as sides.

The refrigerated display case has a huge variety — chocolate brownies, matcha cake, fruit tarts, garlic pie, marshmallows. There was even a collaboration bread with Shilla Bakery.

The gelato counter has 8 flavors including choco fondant, strawberry, melon sorbet, and granola salt, plus a separate soft-serve machine! There's also marble ice cream in various flavors ⭐️ and a topping bar with cereal and fruit so you can build your own bingsu (shaved ice dessert) 🤤

Is QooQoo Chuncheon Branch worth it? Final verdict
- ✔ Spacious 180-seat dining room plus a 52-seat group room
- ✔ Playroom and nursing room make it great for family gatherings
- ✔ Meat, sushi, and roll varieties keep coming out with no wait
- ✔ Shrimp jang and yangnyeom crab are especially fresh
- ✔ Dessert plus 8 gelato flavors and a chocolate fountain
- ✔ 500 parking spaces available
It'd been a while since I'd had QooQoo, and it was just as good as I remembered!
