Gangjeong Port black pork grill in Seogwipo: Jeju Healing Dwaeji

In short

Jeju Healing Dwaeji is a black pork grill restaurant facing the sea at Gangjeong Port in Seogwipo, Jeju. Four people ordered one geun of black pork (65,000 won) plus a half geun add-on (33,000 won) and left full, and the best bite was the thick meat dipped in salt after the staff seared and cut it at the table. Wind and rain kept the meal indoors that night, but the rainbow over the sea and the grilled tangerine dessert made it an evening worth remembering.

The Gangjeong Port ocean view, and the rainbow that showed up

Jeju Healing Dwaeji sits near Gangjeong Port in Seogwipo. What I loved most was being able to eat while looking out at the sea! When you're having barbecue in Jeju, enjoying this kind of view along with the meal is really what makes it feel like a trip.

The sea here is honestly so pretty... that day there was a rainbow, haha. The sky and the sea were both so beautiful that we ordered our food, went out to take photos, and by the time we came back, the timing was perfect.

It's such a great spot for photos, and no cars pass by, which made it even better. Apparently the sunset is gorgeous too when the weather's nice!

The restaurant has both indoor seating and an outdoor terrace. That day it was raining a bit and quite windy, so we ended up eating indoors, which was a little disappointing. I bet the vibe is amazing if you eat outside on a nice day.

One geun plus a half geun for four: is it enough food?

There were four of us, and we ordered one geun of black pork plus a half geun add-on. The portion was genuinely huge, and all four of us left completely full.

I imagine eating outside on a nice day would feel amazing. Being able to see the Jeju sea while eating meat adds another layer to the flavor. 🌴

They show you the meat before grilling, pre-sear it, then cut it into bite-sized pieces before grilling further. Seeing the thick-sliced black pork made the trip to Jeju feel worth it.

Putting the pre-seared meat back on the grill cut down the cooking time and made it easier to eat. Watching the black pork turn golden brown, the smell alone already smelled delicious... 🤤

I tried a well-cooked piece — golden and crisp outside, juicy and chewy inside! You could really taste that distinctive savory flavor of black pork.

Trying the black pork with several different salts

You've got to try the meat with salt first. Just a light dip in plain salt let the flavor of the meat itself really come through.

It's delicious wrapped in lettuce or eaten with side dishes too, but personally, well-grilled black pork dipped in salt was my favorite combination. One piece led to another, and before I knew it, the meat was disappearing fast... haha.

Side dishes that go well with the black pork

Eating only meat can get a little heavy, but the side dishes served alongside made a nice balance. The pickled banchan (side dishes) in particular paired really well with the meat.

Grilled tangerine dessert and a verdict on Jeju Healing Dwaeji

Jeju Healing Dwaeji isn't just a place to eat black pork — its biggest charm is being able to enjoy it while looking out at the Jeju sea. Finishing off with the grilled tangerine dessert... it made for such a perfect evening, haha. (The grilled tangerine tastes like sweet potato, by the way.)

Black pork on a Jeju trip is hard to get wrong! If you want to enjoy black pork with that classic Jeju atmosphere in Seogwipo, I'd recommend Jeju Healing Dwaeji. 🌊🔥
