Where is Donsahyang Olle Market Main Branch, and what greets you

Looking around the alley near the restaurant, there was plenty of nearby parking, so it was easy to leave the car. The building's exterior already had a cozy, warm feel to it that I really liked.

Getting closer to the entrance, the sign greeted me with a sense of care put into capturing Jeju's deep flavors. Even before stepping inside I was already really looking forward to the taste. 😄 Near the entrance stood a promotional banner for the signature menu, which made it easy to see the restaurant's star dish at a glance. It looked so good it made my mouth water and I wanted to try it right away.

Inside Donsahyang: retro but cozy

Stepping inside, the space had a distinctly retro yet cozy atmosphere. The tables weren't packed too tightly together, making it a really comfortable place to eat.

The interior gave off a slightly nostalgic, old-school feel blended with a more polished sensibility, which was quite striking. ^^ On one side sat a wine fridge and a uniquely designed cabinet, adding a touch of sophistication.

Wine at a place like this? 'Wine here?' I naturally thought. But sure enough, lots of people were enjoying wine alongside their meat, which felt genuinely surprising and unique! 😆

Self-serve corner and side dishes at Donsahyang

Isn't there something charming about a self-serve corner? haha. You just grab what you need yourself. Lettuce and perilla leaves, along with various pickles and sauces, were neatly and thoroughly stocked. There were so many sides that paired well with the meat, it was great to pick whatever suited my taste.

Jeju doldol manongsal with garlic olive and garlic cream sauce

Flipping through the menu, we first ordered the restaurant's signature, Jeju doldol manongsal (garlic-crusted pork) 200g. The name alone sparked curiosity and got me excited. 😁

The basic side dishes included scallion salad and fluffy steamed egg, along with radish salad and soy-marinated perilla leaves — clean sides that paired well with meat. On the grill plate came Donsahyang's signature sauces, garlic olive sauce and garlic cream sauce. You simmer them right on the grill, and the longer they bubble, the sharper garlic bite fades away, leaving behind only a deep, savory flavor that really elevated the meat!

Finally, today's star dish arrived with its distinctive look and caught everyone's eye. 👍

The signature Jeju doldol manongsal, whose name had sparked curiosity from the start, was impressive with its thick cut and fresh garlic topping. The savory aroma that spread as it grilled on the plate was truly something else.

As soon as the grill plate got hot, the Jeju doldol manongsal began browning nicely on top. The savory aroma spreading as the meat cooked was tantalizing, and waiting for it felt genuinely exciting.

I tried the well-grilled doldol manongsal with garlic piled on top. The moment I took a bite, the chewy texture and sharp savory flavor filled my mouth and I couldn't help but let out a sound of amazement.

I also dipped the grilled meat generously in the garlic cream sauce, and the savory flavor was really delicious. The smooth sauce wrapped around the black pork's flavor even more gently, and I kept reaching for more. haha

Cheese kimchi fried rice to finish

For the meal, I chose the 'angel descended from heaven' cheese kimchi fried rice, piled high with savory cheese. I definitely made the right call. ^^

I tried the fried rice topped with stretchy cheese alongside the meat, and the spicy yet deep savory flavor made a perfect pairing with the meat.

Among everything, the moment I dipped the doldol manongsal, infused with the sharp flavor of Daejeong garlic, into the garlic cream sauce is the one that stuck with me the most. 👍

I also had a yogurt for dessert, rinsed with mouthwash for a refreshing finish, and left having eaten really well. ^^

Is Donsahyang worth dinner near Seogwipo Olle Market?

The restaurant is a 5-minute walk from across Seogwipo Olle Market on Arangjoeul Food Street, and the nearby public parking lots, Cheonji and Arangjoeul, are free after 6pm.

Corkage is free for one bottle of wine per table, and it's open daily from 17:30 to 23:00. It was such a perfect meal that I'd definitely want to come back the next time I visit Seogwipo.
