Songdo morning bakery open at 9am for garlic cheese salt bread: Tomoru

In short

Tomoru Bakery is a bakery on Haedoji-ro 120beon-gil in Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, and it is unusually roomy for a neighborhood bakery. On a 9am visit, six breads went into the tray — morning bread at 4,800 won, garlic cheese salt bread at 3,000 won, autumn leaf pizza bread at 4,500 won and more — along with a 4,500-won caramel latte, and the garlic cheese salt bread was the best of the day. The one catch at Tomoru Bakery is that the BEST-selling chocolate baguette only comes out at 11am, so early visitors miss it.

Yesterday I went to visit a friend who lives in Songdo, and while I was there I stopped by Tomoru Bakery nearby. This visit was made possible through a discount voucher from Superchart — up to 50% off up to ₩30,000 — so since I was already heading to my friend's place, I picked out a ton of tasty bread haha.

What is on the shelves at Tomoru Bakery, Songdo at 9am?

The first thing I thought when I walked into Tomoru Bakery was, "This is pretty big for a neighborhood bakery?" haha. The shop was bigger than I expected and had such a variety of breads that I spent a while just figuring out where to start. We visited around 9am and there were already quite a lot of breads out on display. I guess that's the thing about bakeries — you really have to go in the morning to see the widest variety of freshly baked bread haha.

As a bakery, they also sell coffee, so it seemed like a good spot to enjoy bread with a drink ☕🥐. And there was one menu item I was especially curious about at Tomoru Bakery.

Tomoru Bakery's chocolate baguette comes out at 11am

That's right — the chocolate baguette! I was excited since it's supposedly the BEST menu item, but I visited way too early. Turns out the chocolate baguette comes out at 11am. A bit disappointing, but I passed on it and saved it for next time haha.

Gift boxes for bread at this Songdo bakery

Looking around the shop, I noticed several commendations and certificates the owner had received on display. Knowing these were earned over years of running the bakery gave it an extra sense of trust 😊.

And beyond just buying bread to eat, there were also gift boxes prepared for that purpose. There were 4-piece and 6-piece gift set boxes, and single cookie wrapping was also available. The cylindrical cookie packages in particular looked great for gifting. If you're looking for a place in Songdo to buy bread as a gift, this seems like a solid option.

After going back and forth quite a bit haha, I ended up grabbing a fair amount. Here's what I ordered that day:

  • 🥖 Morning bread ₩4,800
  • 🧄 Garlic cheese salt bread ₩3,000
  • 🍕 Autumn leaf pizza bread ₩4,500
  • 🥐 Royal soboro ₩3,700
  • 🍞 Red bean bread ₩2,500
  • 🍞 Rice roll ₩5,500
  • ☕ Caramel latte ₩4,500

Also, writing a Naver photo review gets you a free iced tea, so we wrote one and got our iced tea haha. And that day, the cream baguette happened to come out a bit smaller than usual, so the owner gave us one for free as a service. Things like that just make you happy haha. Thanks to that, I had one more bread to try 😆.

Tasting the autumn leaf pizza bread and garlic cheese salt bread

I bought way too much bread to eat all at once haha, so first I pulled out just the autumn leaf pizza bread and garlic cheese salt bread from the bag.

The autumn leaf pizza bread impressed me with its size alone! It was bigger than my palm, and definitely bigger than the pizza bread you'd get at a regular franchise. Given the size, I worried it might be greasy, but it was actually lighter than expected and delicious. I finished the whole thing without feeling weighed down at all haha.

And then, the moment I'd been waiting for — the garlic cheese salt bread! This was seriously... insanely good haha. I don't know how to describe it, but out of everything I ate that day, the garlic cheese salt bread was personally my favorite 😍. The garlic flavor combined with the cheese made it salty and savory in a way that kept me reaching for more.

I also tried the cream baguette I got as a service item. It was a bit smaller in size, but the baguette had a nice chewy texture and the cream inside was soft and delicious. Getting to enjoy even the freebie bread made the visit that much more satisfying haha.
