Sanbon Korean BBQ: 500g pork belly and jjolmyeon set at Geobugi Dongne

In short

Geobugi Dongne Gunpo Sanbon Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant in Gunpo, Gyeonggi, a five-minute walk from Sanbon Station on the second floor of the Jayu Mungo building. On a Wednesday evening the writer ordered the jjolmyeon (chewy cold noodles) and pork belly set (500g), which came with thick scored pork belly and a noodle bowl piled with vegetables, alongside repeated trips to a pickle-heavy self-serve bar. The meat quality and the mung bean sprout and chili pickles stood out at Geobugi Dongne, and with baby chairs and Bumbo seats on hand it works well for a family dinner.

Today's post is about a pork restaurant in Sanbon that's a real must-try! It's really close to Sanbon Station so accessibility is great~ This was my first visit and I was so satisfied that I'm 100% planning to come back!

Where is Geobugi Dongne Gunpo Sanbon Branch, and what is the space like?

Entrance and spacious dining hall on the 2nd floor of Geobugi Dongne Gunpo Sanbon Branch

Geobugi Dongne is in the Jayu Mungo building~ It's a 5-minute walk from the station, so accessibility was great. The building looked a bit old so I wondered how the inside would be, but once I stepped in, it was so clean and well done that I completely forgot about the outside :)

And I was surprised at how spacious it was! I visited on a Wednesday and there were still quite a few customers, with more coming in continuously~ There were a lot of families too!

Ordering the 500g jjolmyeon and pork belly set by tablet

What we ordered that day was Geobugi Dongne's jjolmyeon pork belly set (500g). You just use the tablet at your table to order!

Menu, paper cups, and instructions on the table

At the table there's a menu, paper cups, and how-to-use instructions! I was craving jjolmyeon (chewy cold noodle) that day so I went with the jjolmyeon pork belly set! Other tables were having pork jjageuli (stew) and shabu-shabu~ Once it gets a bit colder I'll have to go back for something hot!

What's on the self-serve bar: pickles, broth and ice cream

At Geobugi Dongne, apart from the main dish, you grab side dishes from the self-serve bar~ The bar gets restocked frequently!

Ice cream and coffee corner on the self-serve bar

There's a wide variety of side dishes and you can even get ice cream! Coffee and ice cream aren't at the register — they're at the self-serve bar side, so grab them after your meal~

Side dish containers of pickles including chili, mung bean sprout, and gungchae on the self-serve bar

Geobugi Dongne had a really wide variety of pickles! There's chili pepper, mung bean sprout, gungchae (Korean aster stem), and radish/onion/garlic scape pickles, plus dried radish strips, bean sprouts, and pickled radish for wraps~

There was also shabu broth and lots of different sauces, which was great!

Scored pork belly, 500g: thick cuts with little fat

A plate of 500g raw pork belly with score marks

This is the 500g pork belly we ordered! Even before grilling I could tell it would be delicious! The meat was thick and this pork belly didn't have much fatty area, which made me even more satisfied~

A plate of lettuce wraps and shredded green onion from the self-serve bar

I diligently brought over side dishes from the self-serve bar too! Lettuce wraps and shredded green onion are essential! The most unique one was the mung bean sprout pickle, which turned out to be a real delicacy~

Pork belly, kimchi, and bean sprouts placed on the grill

The kimchi and bean sprouts came drizzled with sesame oil~ And I loaded up the star of the show, the pork belly, too! I put it all on at once to grill and warm it all together~

Full table spread with pork belly, jjolmyeon, and soju

Of course we needed some Chamisul soju~ and the jjolmyeon (chewy cold noodle) also came out so I snapped a group shot! The portion of jjolmyeon is seriously huge, right?

A bowl of jjolmyeon piled high with vegetables

I've been eating only seafood lately so I was really craving meat, and especially meat with score marks cut in~ I came without knowing, and it turned out to have scoring — what luck!

The scissors cut through well too, so the meat sliced up nicely!

They cut it up and grilled it perfectly! The grilling skills here are truly an art, honestly.

The jjolmyeon in the set, piled with vegetables

Before eating the meat, I had to mix up the jjolmyeon properly first! It had so many vegetables packed in, which I really loved!

They brought over cheongyang chili peppers separately~ Such a thoughtful touch, I thought! Full of vegetables with plenty of sauce made it easy to mix, and mixing it made my mouth water!

The meat smelled amazing just from grilling — so savory, rich, and delicious~ I'm actually more of a lean-meat person, but why is pork belly so good...? The fat literally pops in your mouth but it's not greasy at all, it's genuinely delicious. Even eating the meat plain by itself was so good~

A perilla leaf wrap topped with grilled kimchi

I neatly ate it with dried radish strips too, and wrapped grilled kimchi in perilla leaves~

And the real kick of Geobugi Dongne is the pickles! My hand kept reaching for the spicy chili pickle and the crunchy mung bean sprout pickle~ If you like spicy food, I recommend having them together! It's genuinely spicy and crunchy, and it just keeps going down~

Can you see how chewy the jjolmyeon noodles are? Loaded with vegetables, it's a texture genius. The combo of chewy noodles and crunchy vegetables is unbeatable~

Is Geobugi Dongne good for a family meal? Indoor restroom and baby chairs

Putting the grilled meat on top makes it even more delicious~~ Geobugi Dongne had really great meat quality, and both the self-serve side dishes and the jjolmyeon were so tasty~ The staff also kept the self-serve bar restocked quickly and were friendly, making it a really satisfying dinner~ I plan to come back whenever I'm craving pork belly!!

A corner of the restaurant set up with baby chairs and a booster seat

Near Sanbon Station, a lot of older buildings tend to have restrooms outside, so it's nice that this one has an indoor restroom, and with baby chairs and booster seats also available, it seems like a great spot for a family meal too!
