In short
Donghae Bada Hoetjip is a sashimi and seafood stew restaurant in Dujeong-dong, Cheonan, near the Segwang Enrichville 2 apartments and across from Manghyang Bibim Guksu. Visiting with her boyfriend, the writer ordered the assorted sashimi + seafood stew set for two, which came with banchan like seaweed soup, grilled fish and bossam (boiled pork wraps), then flounder, halibut, bluefin tuna and swordfish sashimi and a seafood stew loaded with blue crab, octopus and abalone. The stew was generous enough that she would go back to Donghae Bada Hoetjip.

My boyfriend and I were craving good seafood after a while, so I searched for the best sashimi spot in Dujeong-dong and ended up at Donghae Bada Hoetjip (동해바다횟집).
Where is Donghae Bada Hoetjip, and is there parking?
This Dujeong-dong sashimi restaurant sits near the Segwang Enrichville 2 apartments, right across from Manghyang Bibim Guksu, and the wide lot out front made it easy to visit by car.

There was a tank of fresh sea squirt right at the entrance, so I stopped to look on the way in.

Inside Donghae Bada Hoetjip: private rooms and table spacing
Inside, this Dujeong-dong favorite was clean overall with wide table spacing, and about three private rooms, so it looked like a solid pick for group gatherings or company dinners too.

Ordering the set for two: sashimi platter plus seafood stew
Donghae Bada in Dujeong-dong had solid set menus. We went back and forth between the seafood stew and seafood soup, and settled on the assorted sashimi + seafood stew 2-person combo!

Ordering was easy through the tablet on the table, with a good range of both set and à la carte menus. Also, writing a Naver receipt review gets you free crab tempura, so it might be worth doing.

What banchan comes with the Donghae Bada Hoetjip set?
The basic setting at this Dujeong-dong sashimi spot came with miyeokguk (seaweed soup), salad, bossam (boiled pork wraps), vegetable pancake, beondegi (silkworm pupae), and aged kimchi. The miyeokguk had shrimp in it — different from the usual version, and a flavor I'd like to try recreating at home.
The grilled fish — herring? saury? I couldn't quite tell — had lots of flesh and big roe, and my boyfriend and I both enjoyed it. The bossam and vegetable pancake were also great light bites before the main dishes arrived.

Which fish are in the sashimi platter, and how to eat it
While we were still eating the banchan, the assorted sashimi arrived first. There was a good variety — flounder, halibut, bluefin tuna, swordfish — and everything looked fresh and delicious overall.

The sashimi was great dipped in just soy sauce or sesame oil, but it was even better wrapped in the gim (seaweed sheets) that came with it, and also delicious laid over the aged kimchi with chojang (vinegared chili sauce). Maybe because it had been a while since we'd had sashimi, we both ate happily. If you run low on gim, you can just ask staff for more.

How generous is the seafood stew with crab, octopus and abalone?
After we'd worked through most of the sashimi, the seafood stew arrived. A staff member cut it up into easy-to-eat pieces for us.

Above all, the seafood stew's ingredients were amazing. It was loaded with blue crab, octopus, squid, long-armed octopus, whelk, abalone, prawns, pollack roe and egg sacs — truly generous. It was prepped enough that we could dig right in, and it wasn't spicy, seasoned just right, and irresistible eaten with the bean sprouts — a total rice thief. We ate ourselves stuffed from the sashimi through the stew.
Is Donghae Bada Hoetjip in Dujeong-dong worth it?
I visited this Cheonan Dujeong-dong sashimi restaurant, Donghae Bada Hoetjip, wanting good seafood with my boyfriend after a while. The place was clean and had private rooms, so it seemed like a good spot for group gatherings or company dinners.
It was great being able to have both sashimi and seafood stew together, and the stew in particular had such great ingredients and generous portions that I'd want to come back. If you're looking for a good sashimi restaurant in Dujeong-dong, I'd recommend Donghae Bada Hoetjip.
