Today I went to Jju Baksa, a favorite near Yangcheon Hyanggyo Station. I've been coming here since it first opened, and it's always the place I think of whenever I'm craving spicy stir-fried octopus in Magok. They've also got a terrace, which makes it perfect for this kind of weather. Let me introduce Jju Baksa, the webfoot octopus specialist near Yangcheon Hyanggyo Station!

Where is Jju Baksa Magok, and what are the outdoor tables like?

Jju Baksa Magok Branch sits right near Yangcheon Hyanggyo Station on Line 9, on the ground floor of Daebang DMC Tower 2. The outdoor tables were already open, and there were plenty of guests out on the terrace.

Parking and how long the wait is at 8pm
Jju Baksa Magok also offers parking — you can park anywhere from B1 to B6 of Daebang DMC Tower 2, with 2.5 hours supported. I went past 8pm that night and there was still a wait, so we waited a bit before getting a table. But with 2.5 hours of parking support, even including wait time it was plenty generous!

How do you choose a set menu at Jju Baksa Magok?
The menu board was right next to the entrance, and outdoor tables order through a QR code at your seat. Most people order the set menu at Jju Baksa — there are three types: drink set, fried rice set, and beverage set, so you can pick based on your preference. We went with the fried rice set that day.

The basic side dishes came out in a spread that paired nicely with the spicy stir-fried octopus: flying fish roe, cellophane noodles (cheollansaal), pickled radish, perilla leaves, bean sprouts, and corn on the hot plate. Refills were conveniently done via QR code too.

The complimentary set dish: cheese egg custard
The egg custard (gyeranjjim) that came included in the set! When you order a set menu you get to pick one complimentary dish — options are cheese egg custard, crab egg custard, soft egg custard, or cream pasta — and I think I order the cheese egg custard every single time I come.

It's a delicious custard packed with cheese, and since Jju Baksa's octopus tends to be on the spicier side, it paired really well.

Jjusamgyeop for three: is it enough food?
The stir-fried octopus we ordered arrived. Jju Baksa near Yangcheon Hyanggyo Station offers five options — rose sauce octopus, hot plate jjusamsae, jjuwoosae, jjusamgyeop, and plain jjukkumi — and we went with jjusamgyeop.

True to its name, this dish combines octopus and pork belly. The three of us ordered the 3-person set, and it turned out to be just the right amount for three people. If you're still hungry, adding extra ingredients (sari) would probably be a good idea.

Too spicy? Bean sprout refills and cheese rice cakes
The stir-fried octopus here is quite spicy, so I always toss in the bean sprouts right away when I visit. Bean sprouts can be refilled too, which was great — and the rice cake in this dish is cheese rice cake, which is really delicious!

Layer pickled radish on a perilla leaf, top it with octopus, pork belly, flying fish roe, and corn — what a delicious wrap. Writing about it is making me want to eat it again, haha. The sauce is really tasty, and I get why there are so many regulars.

Finishing with cheese fried rice on the hot plate
Since we ordered the fried rice set, we got to order fried rice. The set fried rice comes in a choice of flying fish roe fried rice or cheese fried rice — since we had leftover flying fish roe already, we went with cheese! A staff member came over to our table and stir-fried it right there on the hot plate.

If you come to Jju Baksa, you absolutely have to finish with the cheese fried rice — the combination of spicy sauce and savory cheese is so, so good!

Another delicious meal at Jju Baksa near Yangcheon Hyanggyo Station. If you're looking for a good restaurant near Yangcheon Hyanggyo Station, I recommend checking out Jju Baksa — it's got outdoor tables too :)
