I'm Sebogi!
Did you know Yullyang-dong in Cheongju has a place for thick, juicy pork? With a wide range of drink options too, it's great for anyone hunting for a good spot to drink, and since the staff grill everything for you, it's an easy, relaxing meat restaurant. The vibe is nice too, so it's a good spot for a group dinner — this is Anmin Yullyang.
Where to park at Anmin Yullyang: the Yullyang-dong public parking tower
Anmin Yullyang doesn't have its own parking lot, so you'll need to park in a nearby alley or use a public parking lot. There are street parking spots, but they're full more often than not.

The closest lot is the Yullyang-dong public parking tower, which is right next door, so it's easy to get to.
Since it's run by Cheongju city, the price is cheap too!! Only ₩8,000 for the whole day! And it's open year-round, so you can use it anytime.
What Anmin Yullyang looks like from outside

The cute pig photos catch your eye the moment you see them — really stealing the show. And the phrase 'fresh pork charcoal BBQ specialty restaurant' really stands out too.
Inside Anmin Yullyang: tables and the private room

Once you step inside, you'll see a TableManager waiting machine and a seating area where you can wait comfortably.

Bamboo accents give the interior a nice touch, and the overall wood-toned decor feels cozy.

There are also private rooms, great for a more intimate experience. The rooms can reportedly seat about 6 to 10 people.
Every table comes stocked with paper cups, glass cups, tissues, and wet wipes.

There's also a grill plate set up on one side of the table.

The side dishes, each served with an explanation
The banchan (side dishes)! A variety of sides come out to eat with the meat. The lettuce wraps were fresh and nice!! If they just handed you all this with no explanation, you'd have no idea what's what.

It was even better that each side dish came with an explanation of what it was. Knowing what I was eating made it taste even better. The staff told us to try the first bite dipped in pine-flower salt, and that the vegetables taste great dipped in fish sauce.

After a short wait, the meat arrives! Vegetables to grill alongside each cut come out too. The vegetables were king oyster mushroom, shiitake mushroom, green onion, tomato, and shishito peppers!
The grilling service: staff grill every cut for you
At Anmin Yullyang, the staff grill the meat completely from start to finish, so you can eat comfortably and enjoy the best flavor! My friends and I, who aren't great at grilling meat, appreciated this even more. We've always ended up eating good meat badly before, but thanks to the grilling service, we could taste it at its absolute best.
There's a vent right above the grill plate that sucks up the smoke, so the air inside stays clean, and I liked that our clothes didn't end up smelling much either.

There was a small charcoal brazier next to the grill plate, and I wondered what it was for — turns out, once the meat is fully cooked, they place a small grill plate on the brazier and set the meat on top, so you can keep eating it warm from start to finish.
Eating the Anmin Whole Pig Set (64,000 won)
I tried the first bite dipped right into the pine-flower salt! It let me really taste the natural flavor of the meat.

I topped some with shiitake wasabi, dipped some in cheese fondue sauce, wrapped some with the dressed cabbage salad, and dipped the skin in soybean powder. The shiitake wasabi's sharp kick paired really well with the meat. They mentioned the wasabi is mild but can get spicy if you pile it on — I love that sharp bite, so I loaded it up.
The cheese fondue sauce went surprisingly well with the meat. It was sweet and delicious. The dressed cabbage salad had a great sauce with a slight kick — it might be too spicy for people who can't handle heat, but wrapped in lettuce, it's amazing! And the skin with soybean powder — need I say more?
I don't have a photo of it with the meat, but the rinsed aged kimchi was so good. It was my absolute favorite! The meat itself wasn't dry at all — soft and full of juice, which I loved.
Jar-style soft tofu stew and Hwang doenjang jjigae

We were debating what to get for our main dish and, wanting rice, ended up ordering two stews.
Jar-style soft tofu stew: a big chunk of soft tofu goes in. It was nice and spicy, and a total rice-thief.
Crab soybean stew ('huang doenjang jjigae'): I thought the name was so odd, but it turns out a whole crab goes into the pot, in one piece.

The stew was loaded with hearty ingredients and packed with crab meat!! The broth was clean and spicy! It was so good I ended up eating a bowl and a half of rice on my own...
Both the vibe and the food were perfect here. It was my first visit, and I left extremely satisfied — I get why this place has stuck around for so long in Yullyang-dong, a neighborhood packed with meat restaurants! I'm planning to bring my mom next time!
