Suji posture correction center: serratus wall push, Joseph Therapfit
In short
Joseph Therapfit is a posture analysis and corrective exercise center on the 5th floor of Sinbong Jonghap Sangga in Sinbong-dong, Suji, Yongin. Day one covered a 40-minute consultation and a sticker-marked posture analysis, and sent the writer home with bed-setup and breathing homework; day two added shoulder blade and shoulder corrective exercises plus serratus anterior wall pushes. Instead of treating one sore spot, Joseph Therapfit traced the cause from head to toe, which made the two days worth it.

Today's post is about the precision posture analysis and corrective exercise program I did over two days at Joseph Therapfit in Sinbong-dong, Suji, Yongin. My neck and lower back are usually stiff and painful, my pelvis is unbalanced, my ankles are unstable, and I have flat feet — basically a total mess I couldn't fix on my own — so I decided I really needed a professional's help and went for it.

Joseph Therapfit hours and parking
Joseph Therapfit is located on the 5th floor, Unit 511, Sinbong Jonghap Sangga, 84 Sinbong 1-ro, Suji-gu, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do. Hours are 10:00 - 21:00, closed every Sunday.

You can park in the building's basement lot. Just be careful — the entrance and exit ramps are narrow! Parking time is provided, so you can come without worrying about it.

The interior is clean and tidy, furnished with only what's necessary, and it's spacious and comfortable. Just the right temperature and humidity for exercising ~

Day 1: a 40-minute consultation, head to toe
On day one at Joseph Therapfit, they run a consultation, and since I had so many sore spots, they checked everything extremely carefully — a full 40 minutes. What used to frustrate me about physical therapy was that even after treatment, they'd just ask where it hurt and treat only that spot — but our bodies are all connected, so you have to look at the whole body to find the cause and correct it, instead of just doing partial treatment over and over (it really used to bother me).
The director here went through my head, face, neck, shoulders, elbows, back, lower back, pelvis, knees, ankles, and soles of the feet in order — head to toe — covering every sore spot overall, and I thought, this is a real expert...! They looked things over so thoroughly that I was very satisfied starting from the consultation alone.

You change into the provided clothing in the changing room and come out wearing a robe. The photo-shoot clothing is prepared by the center to fit your body size.

How does the posture analysis at Joseph Therapfit work?
After changing into the provided clothes, the posture analysis begins. They put marking stickers all over your body, including your face, and take photos — but it's not just simple photography. They check and discuss your usual posture, left-right balance, joint alignment and movement, lifestyle habits, and recurring discomforts, while also filming video. This step took the longest, since it's done checking each thing one by one, so it tends to be time-consuming.

Bed setup and breathing homework
After the posture analysis, they taught me how to set up my bed and a breathing method. They say the bed setup is taught differently for each person, matched to their individual characteristics. A completely 1:1 customized approach! We just have to follow along exactly. Super easy ~!

Next they taught me the breathing method, and breathing while paying attention to body movement turned out to be harder than I expected, so I think consistent practice is going to be important. Today's homework for day one was two things: set up my bed for sleep every day, and keep practicing the breathing method consistently. I really need to work hard at this...!
Day 2: results down to the exact angle, plus shoulder corrective exercises
On my day two visit to Joseph Therapfit, they checked whether I'd done my homework, checked for changes in my body, discussed any additional corrective solutions needed, re-checked movement and alignment, took after photos, and explained how to manage things going forward. After day one, I tried to keep doing the breathing method regardless of my posture, and gradually I could feel how to engage the right muscles, and a few days later I even felt like I was breathing a bit deeper than usual.
Then I got the full explanation of the posture analysis results — based on the photo and video data, they explained exactly how much each joint was misaligned and by how much, and they explained it so thoroughly and clearly that it was easy to understand. (You can even find out how many degrees off each joint is. Amazing.)
We moved on to personalized exercises. They told me my body has quite severe imbalance and is a difficult case since so many factors have to be considered together. Today we focused on the neck and shoulders, my most uncomfortable areas. While keeping up the breathing method, I did a movement where I pulled my shoulder blades outward while lifting my shoulders up and simultaneously extending my arms outward — there was a lot to keep track of and it was hard, but the director kept helping me repeat it so it ended up being fun.
I used to just think my shoulders hurt, without ever considering that protruding shoulder blades might be the actual problem. Once I understood the reasoning behind it, it became a great opportunity to pay more attention to my everyday posture and habits.

Homework at home: serratus anterior wall pushes and abdominal massage
They told me I need to keep strengthening the serratus anterior below my shoulder, so they taught me a wall push exercise I can do at home too. They say the exercises they teach differ from person to person depending on the analysis results — another moment where I really felt how important the analysis is...! They also said my abdominal tension was on the high side, so I should do abdominal massage regularly. Sad that my body has so much to work on, but I'll do my best to build a healthy, pain-free body...!

After the exercise, they do one more round of photos. They mark the areas worked on and film video, and that wraps up day two. A few days later, they send before-and-after comparison photos over KakaoTalk. I was really grateful for how passionate the instructor was throughout the session, always trying to explain one more thing — I felt lucky to have met a trainer who cared about my body more than I did. If it were closer to home, I'd want to become a lifetime member...!
